110tdi Leon SE remap

Hi,

I want to get my 110tdi SE remapped with custom-code but with all this talk about slipping clutches i'm now thinking it's not such a good idea.

How strong is the standard clutch for this engine?
Has anyone else had a c-c remap on their 110?
Is it really worth remapping it (will it make a big difference)?
Will it improve mpg if I don't floor it?

My car has done 89k and i've never felt the clutch slip yet so I think it's in good condition. I don't drive it hard or floor it at low revs. I just would like a bit more torque.

Cheers

Matt

i havent heard of any number of clutch slips on the 110 remaps, its common on the 130 and 150s but not so much on the 110s. I think you will be fairly safe.

Yes deffo worth remapping it, will make a big difference in many areas.

Yes it will improve mpg if you dont use the extra power all the time.

I had mine done yesterday by custom code. Came to £246. The engine is so smooth now and is loads more powerful, feels like it just wants to be revved. I was sceptical before I took it in but once it was done I couldn't believe the improvement. There is no hesitation anywhere in the rev range. Their rolling road was being worked on so I'm taking it in again on Saturday to get it measured.

Also I have the switchable maps option via vagcom installed. Wasn't expecting this so i'm even more pleased with it. It means I can do a before and after measurement next weekend. I had it done at RK engineering at St Agnes, Cornwall, they get a recommendation from me. :D

While it was being done, I had a mk4 golf gti 20v turbo as a courtesy car. Wasn't impressed with it to be honest and it feels slower than my remapped tdi. I nearly bought one of these instead of my leon. Glad I didn't!

Had it on the rollers yesterday to confirm gains. It is 144.8hp @ 4184rpm and 246.7lbft @ 2332rpm. I'd post the graphs up but I don't have a scanner. I'm really impressed with the gains from standard figures of 110bhp and 175lbft.

I was the same but once it's done you won't regret it. It gives it so much more torque. You will eventually get used to it but like i've said earlier, with a custom code remap you can switch between standard and remapped with vag com to remind you of the difference when the novelty wears off :D

I totally concur with the above. I've had my TDi 90 Leon done today by Jabba, bloody hell, the drive home was good!!!
My standard figures were 94bhp (Maybe due to the Miltek exhaust?) and 200nm / 147 lbs/ft of torque.
It's now 117 Bhp which isn't massive but the real difference is the torque, it's now 360nms or 265lbs/ft which makes it pull like a train in all of the gears.
It wasn't cheap going to Jabba but it was money well spent imo. The staff were helpful and friendly and I wish I lived closer to them to get my car serviced by them!
I had the custom remap on the rolling road and they even asked me how I drive to adjust the settings to my preferences.
I'll now have to wait for the novelty to wear off and then start saving for either a 130 or Cupra Tdi, then another visit to Jabba!!!:p

Will increase the power a lot, you will get much better power delivery through the rev range.
