Hi guys, i'm new here! I'm from Greece and i own a MY08 Leon II 1.8 tsi with MFD and bluetooth factory installed. I'm interested in fitting an RNS 510 unit to replace my standard soundsystem.I like the looks and features of it! I have a few questions though: My car was manufactured on the 23rd week of 2007, does it have a version 2.0 Canbus? If so, what else needs to be done for the unit to play, after installing it? I have a Vaqcom cable,do i have to make some adjustments with it? And what adjustments exactly? I don't want the wheel buttons to become useless and i find useful the bluetooth feature. Please help me!!

Hi SigmaDelta,

Look at your vehicle VIN number if the 10th digit is a 8 then your car is MY2008 and has CAN BUS 2.0 and the MFD on the Dash Cluster will not have the clock offset issue.
As for any VAG-COM changes I cant help as I dont have a cable.

OK Guys,
Im getting the funds together, going to get my MFD3 from Tommy and Priemium BT box.
Going to see if my MFD in the dash is OK, if not will need to get a MY08 one from $tealer.

Will transplant my MFD2 and standard BT kit into my wifes 2004 Altea 2.0 FSI Sport.

need some answers if anyone can help, I understand this is a LEON thread but any help appricieated!

The Altea is a 2004 model so anyone got any what CAN-BUS will it have?
It only has the standard (NON MP3 Version) of the header unit at the moment, so no large MFD in the clock cluster, but it has cruise control.

Will I be able to use the CAN-BUS 2.0 to 1.6 cable that people have mentioned?

Will I be able to transplant my MY07 Leon FR Clock Cluster into the Altea so I have the large MFD?

Thanks!

Checked VIN number,it has an -8- so it's CANbus 2.0:thumbup:
But have some more questions: Someone has mentioned above that the RNS 510 unit works with "premium" bluetooth module. So, the factory-fitted module is incompatible with RNS510? I won't be able to use the bluetooth function,is that correct? If anyone KNOWS the answer (not just guessing) please write it.

No the factory fit BT does work with the RNS510, but the extra features like touch screen dialing will only work with the Primium unit.

Can anyone find the RCD510 available online? It's indentical to the RNS510 in appearance minus a couple of buttons, but without sat nav, 30gb hdd and sd slot. Got to be a lot cheaper.
