Haven't ever seen this done...Cupra engine transplant into Mk4

but has anyone done an engine conversion in a mk4.

Im considering dropping a cupra engine in my car when i return from travelling in a few months.
Got a company that will do it, but was wondering if any else has done it??

There was a massive thread on a similar topic a while ago... from what I remember everyone agreed that it'd be cheaper and easier to just buy the cupra lol

Just buy the cupra. Why stick in an engine in a car that you could buy stock lol?

Unless you buy one of those brand new audi 1.8TFSI's and stick that in then it would be worthwhile.

Stick a VR6 inside, i'd do that, Cupra 1.8T is waste of money when they have one already...

Have you got quotes from your insurance company for the engine transplant?

reliability from an engine transplant is always less that from a factory fitted as well mate.

The R32 isn't much different to a VR, (Audi units are more plentiful). Unless you plan on cutting up lots of the floor pan then you may be better with a 2.8 V6 gearbox and FWD only. I don't know if the same is true with the VR units but the 5 speed on the 1.8t is quite a bit smaller than the 6 (good for me and my polo ) so if you were looking at an R32/Audi 3.2 you may need as much space as you can get, so you may want to ditch all the aircon bits as well.

Ibiza isn't hugely different in size to a MK3 Golf...

If you are going for a 2.8 why not the 24v? Or go for the less poky but still sweat sounding 20v V5, only ~170bhp so TDi power and 30mpg. (Ok that's probably why not.)

Audi is gonna be releasing a 2.5, 5 cylinder turbo with about 360hp soon for the TT-RS going by my sources and if I had infinte amounts of money that would be the engine that would go in my ibiza

4WD and a reliable 360hp with a rare 5 cylinder sound in a car that weighs about as much as a gnats arse (going by todays standards) would equal one super cool ibiza.

Evos and 911's wouldnt know what had hit them.

24v like the current 2.8 V6.

4WD would be relay nice but one big job, the entire floor pan would need to be modified as I doubt there is enough space for the prop shafts, diff and 1/2 shafts the rear hubs would need changing. Anything is possible with enough time, money and effort (the Polo is taking plenty of time and that's "just" RWD).
