not boring at all mate.. its really interesting to hear all thats going on

right today has been good!

the block has gone in for boring and will be back during the week.

i also collected my remaining parts.

Valves

Springs and retainers

V-band connections

New rocker cover

Tial external wastegate

And the turbo!!!

huge thanks to VAGworx for supplying the parts at awesome prices, cheers guys was also great to meet you

so the project is now really rolling!! after speaking to mark from VAGworx im now very tempted by a emerald standalone ecu! watch this space

if you look at the turbo its also a v-band exhaust housing! im having the whole exhaust in v-band

the cam cover is a smooth one...no bolt holes or useless bits of metal. and the oil cap is in a different place

no, just wire all the inputs into the dash

you'll likely need to run both side by side to get 'full' functionality, but stuff like the vss & tacho will likely run straight into it.

Personally, i think changeing to aftermarket management shouldn't be taken lightly and really isn't necesary for many.

But, there are advantages. Launch control, full throttle gear change, staged boost levels are a few extra 'features'. The ability to bin many of the problamatic sensors and valves like the maf etc. Imo people think that they need the fault diagnosis of the stock ecu, but in my experiance its the needless sensors that find fault with the other needless sensors!!!

A big benifit imo is that you won't be tied to any mapping company.

I think Hooch will need to think long and hard about what he wants from the car and how he plans on using it, before taking the step to stand alone.

as said, its not going to be a plug and play for stand alone ecu. ME7 coped adequately on badgerwagen when mapped accordingly, so its capable.

Try fitting your coil packs in that rocker cover hooch.

i ditched the oil to water cooler plate. done what you guys said and shortened the standard tube.

Iirc you only need the thread part on the end, as the non-threaded part is the thickness of the cooler.
