a good one won't be cheap

my father in law bores out TVR & dragster engines for a few firms locally... a good job takes longer to do (more passes etc) so will cost more (at least the labour rates aren't that bad)

thats great mork, cheers

does anyone know if i can ditch the whole oil to water cooler? the square ali unit that the oil filter seals against.

i want to loose it as im going to run the mocal sandwich plate and cant see the use of it.

just wondered if anyone knew if it did anything other than cool the oil?

im aware i will need to make a new oil filter feed pipe/mounting bolt

thanks

Yes you can ditch it, have done this before (on my vr also) as they can be problematic, just needed to shorten the shaft iirc, best done on a lathe;)
The mocal will be more than sufficiant (13row) on the 1.8t, so you can ditch the stock one and yes all it does is use the water jacket to cool the oil, which in turn heats the water:D

I know someone who builds 1.8ts and races them in the VW cup who would prob build it for you, very worthy of course, but would be a 'build' and not necesarily a machine shop if you get what i mean?!. He's in Essex.

I also ditched mine to mate, my 10 row cooler is spot on, oil temps sit at around 80 - 100 Degrees C depending on driving moods.

I ditch the standard oil cooler and just shortened the pipe/tube from that to bolt the mocal sandwich plate to

Also if you want them i've got part numbers somewhere for proper blanking plugs to block off the coolant pipe the oil cooler feeds from

Hi Hooch,
Been reading with interest.
We are having a lot of interest in our kits to fit on the Ibiza. I know we have spoken briefly, but this is something we will be happy to help with. 01908 821216.
