Hello,

I just bought myself a Seat Ibiza automatic from a seat dealer (has done under 4000 miles).

I am going to collect the car from the dealer in the next 10 days, and some one suggested that i ask on the Seat forum to check what keys do i need to get from the dealer(i always thought it would just be the 2 standard keys).

Any other stuff i should get?

the key with the electric keyfob thingy
backup key (no key fob)
Radio code
Radio removal tools
Ibiza handbook
Radio handbook
Ibiza service history book
1 week free insurance (through zurich)
and 1 - 2 years AA Cover (depending how old the car is - but im guessing you should get the remainder of the 2 years from the day the car was first sold)

usually get one remote and one normal key (2 if lucky)

check manual for radio code

check spare wheel/tool kit - doubt its gone or used but seen sales cars get robbed/swapped of loose bits all day long to keep someone happy

tax disc check details/date - and number plates - seen wrong ones fitted in a rush

check it over on collection with someone with you and anything your not happy with try and leave it to be sorted (if its that bad) as not all but some salesman can be a pain to get stuff rectified after you have driven home as its no longer their shout ;)

apart from that just enjoy

tip: if its got abs and you are not used to having it i'd reccomend somewhere quiet to test it so you are aware of what happens - can make unknown people jump and let off the brakes

i guess you have had/want an auto but i find for close quarter driving (car parks etc) i stay off the throttle and gain more paitience - NEVER tickle the throttle to get out of a gap or you'll be across the car park before you know it :)

Ouch, mine felt like hitting speedbumps at 30mph heh. then followed by car rotating 360.. my bad... ah well i try not to drive in snow now, especially not on the new road they put in my street (like 0 grip whatsoever, can slide down it in shoes!)

thanks for the replies, some how i did not get notification for all your messages !?!

i have got the following

key with electronic keyfob
backup key
Radio code
Ibiza handbook
Radio handbook
Ibiza service history book (this is on the way, Seat have misplaced it and they will provide it)
1 week free insurance
2 years AA Cover

what sort of radio removal tools should i have expected, were these supposed to be standard

i will check the spare wheel/tool kit and do a check on the tax disk

what sort of test should i do on the ABS

thanks for the close quarter driving tip, will follow that.

i had a polo 1.2 before this, and i feel that the startup time (turning the ignition key before the engine starts) is slightly more (perhaps a second, not sure). Is this usual?

radio tools never seen with the car so dont panic there

test abs by being in a quiet area like a trading estate and drive moderately and jamm the foot pedal down like a kid has just jumped out from a parking space

keep pressing so you feel the vibration and its mainly to make sure its not unfamiliar to you

dont spend all doing it as you'll cook your brakes eventually just test to see where the limit is so to speak - after the second time headbutting the screen it'll soon knock sense into ya :p

my first automatic, it looks good, i think the pickup in the lower gears is not that fast, but 3rd and 4th is nice.

yes, it is a 1.4

the car is for my better half, and she did not like to use the stick in stop and go traffic, hence the auto.

is there an issue with 1.4 and auto? i think seat discontinued the 1.4 auto last year.

Radio removal keys are not included.
If for some reason you do need to remove the head-unit you can get the keys from Halfords (about £4.50).

Regards Guy.

P.S. Welcome to SCN mate.
