all i will say is NEVER scrimp on tyres

Best bit of advice in this thread

End of the day, it's only 4 small contact patches of rubber keeping the car on the road - why scrimp on something so important to safety. And, why spend money on remaps, mods and fancy fuel - all to increase performance of your car - then stick sh*tty low-performance tyres on it?

FWIW, I rate the following tyres (which I've used):

Goodyear F1 GSD3: great in dry and wet, reasonable wear

Yoko Parada Spec-2s: even better in the dry, very progressive, seem OK to me in the wet (I'm using these at the moment as I got them cheap)

Uniroyal Rainsport 1's: fantastic tyre, better in the wet that F1's, not quite as good in the dry, but good durability and usually cheaper than the above two.

For what it's worth......on my last car i bought some Vredestein Hi-Trac's. They won the Auto Express Tyre test that year and have done so on a couple of occasions. They were about £55 a corner. Some better known brands were approximately £80 a corner and didn't do so well in the test. They were great tyres wet or dry and lasted 44k miles on the front (it was only a 1.4).
I also put some Kumho KU31's on that car and they were comparable to the Vredesteins. I think the dry weather grip was better, but they weren't quite so good in the wet. They also lasted well. I git rid of the car having put about 30k miles on them & they were still good to go.
Paying £££'s for tyres doesn't guarantee you get great tyres that will last.

Currently I have some Marangoni Zeta Linea's on my 130 Sport. I did some internet searches on them and they seemed pretty good. The place i get my servicing done at had a deal on them. They grip really well, but are soft and as a result need replacing on the front after around 16k miles. I think they cost about £60 a corner.
I'll be replaing them with the Kumho KU31's again. I would go for the Vredestein's but they don't do them in a 205/45/16. I'd have to get the Sportrac3's which I suspect will be as soft as the Marangoni's and not last too long.

Guinness, that was just the fronts that lasted 44k miles. But the car only put out 75bhp and a similar number of lbft torque as well.
Plus it weighed around 900kg and so it was very dainty on it's tyres!!!

best tyres for ibiza

i had a ibiza 1.4 05 plate but now i got a 57 plate cupra and the best tyre i found for grip is michelin exolta 2 sorry for the spelli as i am crap at it but any way i tryed dulop and prelli but they are both have no grip when you try to push the car aspecialy aruond corners but the mic had no probs going round the same corners with out losing the back end so i will say give it a try you wond be disapointed but the only down fall is the price it is one of the most expesive tryes around but you pay for quality i cant tell you how much they are but shop around before you get them because you can some times get them for much more chepar the expected and if you got a mate who can fit them then you get a great deal because you dont have to pay for fitting.[B)]
