Yeah, and I'm still waiting for the £50 she promised me!!.

Ha Ha..!

Sounds like Revo's the way to go then...
We'll likely keep the car at least 3 years so will not abuse the power too much...
Know what you mean about lazy DSG driving...but still a lot of fun to be had though:D

Grr. I'd not noticed the "owl" before now... and now I can hear it all the time!!!

Sorry Deev !

It wasn't until I read about it on these forums that I properly noticed the noise myself...

Oh well at least we know we're in good company...:seatgod:

Update:

Following another problem we had the other day with bad condensation inside the car (appears another common fault..), my wife is now also sharing my original doubts about keeping it...

So I spoke to our original salesman, mentioning the 'exchange' word and he put me straight through to the sales manager to 'sweet talk' me round...

Originally the dealers were unable to book us in for the warranty work until the end of the month, as they had no courtesy cars available. Surprise surprise, the manager offered to take our car in next day, offering us his own car as a replacement and asking for the opportunity to rectify all the faults in one go. BTW he reckoned all the new Seat models and some VW's have this interior condensation problem and that he recommends leaving the car running for 5 mins with aircon on full blast as the quickest way to clear it...
I let him know politely that was not an acceptable solution to another Seat/VAG 'design fault', so they will be investigating ours further apparently...[:@]

We asked about the option of exchange if we're still not happy following repairs, bearing in mind the 30 day period is fast running out, and he assured us the 30 day limit is not written in stone and that he will extend that to allow us time to test the car after its return, hopefully early next week...

So basically the car went into dealers yesterday for the warranty work and small body repair, including investigating the 'owl' noise'.

Will update further next week when its returned....:headhurt:

P.S. Missing the DSG already...damn clutch pedal..oops - stalled it again..!

At least they're being reasonable with you. I get the feeling you really really *want* to love the car... Let's hope they get everything sorted first time :)

To be fair the dealers have been spot on so far, just unfortunate they're the best part of a 90 mile round trip away...:(

Lets hope the 'owl' has gone back to its nest when we get the car back..:weedy:

Are you going to have the dealers look into your 'owl' problem Deev...?

Ok...after a few phone calls we picked our car up last Weds after being assured all faults had been sorted.

1. Minor body repair to tailgate - top notch repair/paint job done here with no sign of any repairs and would have said it was a new tailgate if I didn't know otherwise...

2. 'Owl' noise - Still there and dealer's say there is no problem. Assured by dealer's turbo 'expert', after taking him for a drive to 'show' him the noise, that this is normal 'spooling up & down' of the turbo at around 1500 rpm. He mentioned when you do have a problem with the turbo it will sound more like a distant police siren and is much louder than the quiet 'owl' noise in our car apparently. Still not convinced but agreed we will monitor this and re-visit the issue at first service in Sept, provided it doesn't get worse meantime...

3. Dash rattle/vibration - Again dealer's said there's no problem here and couldn't find a rattle (seems to come from the centre vent area when driving over rougher roads - that'll be about 80% of UK roads then..). Another issue I agreed to live with for now (i.e. turn-up the stereo..:funk:) and re-visit at service time...

A couple of other minor faults were rectified and the sales manager gave us another week extension on the 30 day exchange option to decide whether we're now happy with the car.
Driving it again for a few days has reminded us why we bought it in the first place, so failing any other faults developing before the end of the week, I think we'll be keeping the car...:D
We even managed to clear out the garage this weekend so the car now has a new home to keep it out of the s**te weather, and hopefully prevent condensation problems in the mornings...

I think most people including me have the dash rattle. I took mine in and was also told they couldn't find rattle.

I wonder if anyone has had this fixed???

Final update which goes back to the original reason for starting this thread...

Another week of living with the car since its return from the dealers has only confirmed that I can't ignore the 'owl' noise (which seems to be getting louder..) or the dash/air vent rattle...
Like Deev said we really wanted to love this car but had the gut feeling it might be a lemon that we would regret keeping...
After contacting the sales manager again he's finally come up trumps and agreed to exchange our Stylance for their ex-demo 2k miles FR TFSI DSG in black with 18's, bluetooth, con pack and muddies...
A test drive in it this afternoon confirmed that we should have gone with our hearts originally and bought the FR petrol rather than the Stylance diesel...despite the mpg...
Anyway, we drove it back to the dealers, signed on the dotted line and are swapping cars next Weds...hopefully end of saga...!...:D

The tfsi is a corker. I love it albeight in cupra form. The dsg box is great but even better in the petrol. Get it mapped and it will be a pocket rocket!!! 260bhp is just 1hour away

We'll get used to the extra 60bhp over the Stylance first but will likely get it mapped later...

Who did your remap POLKR...and what was cost/performance increase...?

Do you know if the FR copes ok with 260bhp without upgrading other parts..?

A happy ending after all! Obviously as an oil burner I'm disappointed you've moved to the petrol side... but secretly jealous as I know that my own purchase of a TDI was a necessary compromise :p

Welcome to your around-the-houses Leon ownership! :D

Cheers Deev...
Nearly joined you oil-burners there, but after a close shave going back to being a petrol-head...:D

There are always compromises to be made, ours was to lose 10-15mpg and probably another £200 on extra tax/insurance...but doing only 7-8k a year it shouldn't hurt too much ...
The plus side was watching my wife's grin after we'd swapped over on the test drive - this after she was "..not bothered about driving it - make your own mind up.." (I think the whole thing was p**sing her off slightly...tbh :headhurt:)
Surprise..surprise she didn't want to swap again for me to drive it back to the dealers...

Angel Tuning did my remap and it cost me £350. The increase is dramatic. I got an extra 60-70 bhp and about 80lbs of torque.

There are many other tuners available at varying prices.

Revo is the most popular on the forum but also the most expensive at £586.

If you are willing to do it soon Custom Code are doing a 30% discount at the moment which makes it £370.

Plenty of other tuners available.

There are not many people who have time for Angel on this forum but they do have a good reputation on many other forums and I had total confidence in them and the the product.

One thing you need to remember is that once the car is mapped it takes the ECU some time to accomodate the new data and so needs some settling in time. Please see my thread http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=157695
You don't need any other modifications for a basic remap.

Thanks for all the info' POLKR, top comments again and your remap thread made interesting reading...

Oh..one other thing I can clear up, which was discussed earlier in the thread, is that the Stylance is Platinum Grey not Delphin as we were orginally told by the dealers.......so good spot xlray...

Roll-on Wednesday...:p

Funny, I was about to ask if the name of the colour was ever decided.

One question though, which dealer did you purchase from. They seem to have done everything possible to please you.
