Surrey darling...
I know some people have made warranty claims for this common problem where as others are simply told 'no it's your fault for using abrasive detergents' and other such lame excuses...

I took my 55 reg LCR into Camberly Seat before Christmas as my off side calliper has just started to peel... they took a couple of pics and explained that these have to be sent to head office where someone will make a decision.

They called back last week to say that Seat aren't prepared to do anything as it's most likely a stone chip or my fault seeing as it's fairly close to the pad removal pins. He did say that they would be happy to sell me another calliper for £400 (or what ever they cost) ancd send my old one off to Seat so they could properly inspect it and then if by some miracle they decide it is a defect they will refund me!!! FFS

IMO it's simply down to Brembo not making these callipers fit for perpose and based on the amount of people that have suffered from this issue I find it hard to beleive that Seat aren't willing to do anything about this...

So, has anyone been sucessful making a claim for similar probelms and if so which dealer did you go to?

Also, does anyone have any further suggestions regarding what else I can do to get this sorted?:

TIA

Mine went a brown colour from heavy braking. Took it to a seat dealer and they took all the usual pics ,etc and sent it all of to Seat UK, after fighting for weeks they gave me the finger. "Sorry sir it must be something you,ve done to the laquar" . To**ers!!!!!!!!!!

Tried Brembo directly but pretty much the same result, so as it stands my calipers are still Brown!

Think thats what I'm going to have to do it's just anoying that Seat and Brembo don't recognise this as a fault when it can't be anything else :(

I hate to say this but I sort of can understand where they are coming from. There are so many factors that can cause then to peel, discolour etc..Some pads get hotter than others, some people driver harder than others, some use bad products, some never clean the car for months and months...

However as your one is 55 plate therefore quite new then i do think you have a case. Fight mate...only way to get things done.

Cheers Kez !!!

Fair point but if they fit them to a race car then surely a LCR shouldn't cook them on the Ring

You would think they'd take more pain then that.

umm I'm not trying to be funny here but are you seriously expecting them to replace a perfectly functioning part (which is not particularly cheap) just because the paint has chipped on it? on a part that you can't even see clearly and spends most of it's life half covered in dirt and brake dust??

To be blunt, I know there's a principle involved here but it's kind of like asking them to give you a new car because you got a stone chip in your bonnet !

The most I think you can reasonably expect a dealer to do is touch it up.
Which is something you can do pretty easily and cheaply yourself !

You don't seriously believe the Brembos on an LCR are in any way shape or form the same as any you would find on a race car surely?? Manufactures have different production lines with different quality checks for each product destined for different vehicles. A Porche and a SEAT may both have 4 pot (or whatever), Brembos on them but they will be completely different specs.

Hi Mate,

I had the same problem last year, just before my warranty ran out.

SEAT replaced both my front calipers, pads and all 4 wheels due to lacquer flaking off. They did not argue with me, they just sorted it! :)

The LCR brakes are the Brembo gran turismo kit isnt it,they are a very, very good caliper, strong and very rigid, they look very similar to the caliper that porche use on there smaller cars to me.
