What can be done to an Altea?

Hi guys!
Had my Altea for about 6 weeks now and i am really pleased with it!
I have covered about 5000 miles in that time and its an impressive car!

Little about me...
I am 21.. (the only 21 year old that owns an Altea? lol)
I have been driving for 4 years and this is my 5th car!! Don't worry, I have not wrote the rest off or crashed them etc etc, got bored of them too quick and had one bad luck car!
The Altea is my first "sensible" car (or so my partner thinks, he he) and the only reason i got it was because i needed something bigger!
Was originally looking for a Passat / Golf Plus but to be honest they were so boring! The Altea just looks the part (and no one knows what it is!!).

My question is, what can be done to it? I don't think i am going to get bored of this one very quick, (none of the usual tel tail signs are there).
I am not after lowering or anything like that, as i think it looks quite good as it is.
I have been thinking about getting an MFD unit for it as they look quite kewl!
Also, having the under floor storage in the boot it is just begging out for a Car PC and a nice Sub to compliment the MFD unit (if i get one).

Have been looking at the remap capabilities, they look quite promising.. Am i right in saying i would be looking to get about 170hp from a 140?
I am not going to do that though until i get tired of the power it has now, which i don't suspect will be for a while as it still gives me a buzz every time i put my foot down!

Soo thats about it really, just wondering what other people have done... (if anything)

Many Thanks

Chris

My Car is:

Don't Worry your not alone, what seems to be more unbelievable is a 22 year old having a new Toledo (with the arse on it)! But I like a lot. Have got fair share of, "are we taking the bus...Toledo" or the "daddies car" comments not knowing it was mine:lol:

One tip, just saw the (loosly calling it) word: Kewl in there somewhere..... one tip, don't use 'Txt spk on ere'...... will not go down well!;)

But anyway. Have a question for you, where did you get the wind deflectors and how much?

I have done very little to my car, debadged rear, exhaust, chrome mirrors. Need to get cash together and this uni lark is not helping.

I think around 170 form your car after remap is about right form figures around here, also would depend on the map supplied etc.

I think a bit of lowering may be good, just enough, that is one thing I want to get done. maybe in new year, late Christmas/birthday present to me.

Welcome to forum and it is a nice car as it! Best of luck with it.

PS: Check it has had any recalls required, DMF etc...

thanks for the heads up on the txt speak!
Looks like your not the only one with the comments. my most common one is "here comes post man pat" or "who has the wife and two kids".

I don't think i am going to bother with lowering as i think she sits just right as she is, also the sport suspension ride is quite good too.
I think i am going to go for the FR exhaust trim to start with.
I did want the entire FT bumper kit until i seen how much it was! Madness!
I was going to de-badge the front but i decided against it after i seen one online and it looked a little odd....

The wind deflectors, i got them off ebay, If you drop me a PM i will send you over the sellers ID, think i got the full lot for less than £25!

Just been looking for a K&N panel filter, a when i had one of them on my Megane dCI it worked wonders.

All of my recall work was carried out about two weeks ago, needed the new flywheel, but that was it.

Thanks

Chris

The "wife and two kids" one has been said too.

I don't have sports suspension, but have aftermarket wheels on, 17" RS8 Alloys. So want to lower it onto the wheels by 20mm or so, just to kill the arch gap.

one thing i have been trying to workout is strut braces! Can i buy one or make/adapt one to fit. So far found none for these cars. Anyone want to let me know if a lower one from Audi or similar platform would fit?

For the exhaust trim, go to a local motorfactors or halfrauds and pick one up. Look at my album for few pics. have got Seat centres for wheels now so look better.

Good news on the recall then, on the ball with that one.

Try Badger5, Awsome etc for green panel filters, seem most popular, wil lbe a few arguements over K&N killing MAF's due to oil etc. Green seem better on this.

Thanks, Lluvia blue is the colour.

Looked up wind deflectors on ebay. post the link up here if you can to the ebay shop you bought from.

Seller was good, they come from abroad and parcel force deliver them.
No problems for me any way.

Fitting is ok.... Fronts go on quite well but all around is a tight squeeze, it will activate your anti pinch feature on your windows the first few times. then i think something gets used to them being there.

the back ones seem ok as well, i was a little unsure with them at first as they felt like they would fall off but they haven't!

All in all, i am pleased with them and they make the car look good!

took me about 15min to fit them.

I think i will give them a go. hate when window down and drive off, water falls into car from top of window due to the taper in of the roof compared to the body.

they set a nice line up the side of the car from side and front on.

Saw them activating anti-pinch on my ma's car a few times and it stopped over time.

Chris

I hace a green cotton panel filter on my tdi sport & tbh it makes no differance to performance. Maybe if it was re-mapped it could make a differance, but to my bog standard car it does nothing.

I've kept my old filter for the times when i need to remove the green filter for cleaning. I then take the green filter to work & give it a good clean & oil at my leasure.

Select the Altea from the menu in the top right corner, it should suggest the Ultimate kit to you. (Its not cheap mind!)

Got the LED side lights to match now as well, just need to get a resistor to fool the car into thinking the bulb hasn't blown! (no money left after Christmas!)

Thanks

it's my friends red Altea - sorry it's the only picture I have of his car. It's fitted with ADM bodykit and roofspoiler. With 18" wheels and lowered 40mm with REMA springs.
