What can be done to an Altea?

A decent remap should get you a bit more than 170 horses, more like 185 ish and torque to around 300lbft, according to Celtic Tuning's site. ( They did mine)
If you're looking to upgrade various bits of ICE, the easiest upgrade is to swap the woeful standard speakers and put some decent ones in. See this thread http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76991
I changed my air filter to a Pipercross foam one, but only really because my original was filthy at 27k miles. Can't say I've noticed anything dramatic from it, but it did seem a bit more free revving at first.

Must start with the speakers... i don't seem to have a problem with my standard ones. I can crank the HU up to about 15 on some heavy bass tunes without and distortion at all. (and by god can you feel it!)
When i first got the car i couldn't do that as there was an awful rattle in the rear, but it wasn't too long before i realised it wasn't the speakers and in fact the screw that keeps the door lock in place had come loose and the lock was rattling.
I have been looking allot into fitting an MFD 2 but it does seem quite complex.
I would go for something none standard with more features but i want it to look right and not loose my steering wheel controls! I also really would like to have a play with an MFD before i buy one as i still have not seen one in the flesh!
What was your honest opinion of the remap? worth the money? does it feel like a new car? better to drive? etc etc.
Also did you suffer from and clutch slip?

If you think the existing speakers are fine , that's great, just I found them a worthwhile mod, and not too dear. The standard head unit does seem okay.
My remap was £360 and they came to my house and did the necessary. Yes, it is noticeable and very smooth, with no foibles that I've noticed. I had the remap done to atke into account my DSG gearbox, which has a reported torque limit, so its backed off a little from the manual box version, I understand. So no clutch slip on mine, though with the DSG, I'm not sure what that would feel like, as it uses 2 wet clutches in its system.
Overall worth every penny, TDi remaps are about the best bang for the buck out there in my opinion and it doesn't just affect top end, but improves subtly across the whole range.
If I bought another TDi, it would be a no-brainer, would have it done straight away.

Its an fr tdi. I just spent 6hours removing the coilovers today. Selling off the parts I dont need then she is going down the road.
Problems
It keeps steaming up
The rear electric windows are playing up
Its eating up the tyres like no other car Ive had
The torque is too peaky, hence the tyres spinning up
Drinking the diesel (best tank average 37mpg)
Stupid dpf light
But atleast you are happy with yours, I hope it stays problem free
