My Cupra wont be coming with Xenons

Sounds like Seat are trying to get away with it.
They would have notified dealers otherwise wouldn't they?

What they should have done is put all the wrongly built cars into stock and then sold them after the 1st Jan spec change.

People whose cars had been incorrectly built should then have been allocated one from the next build run or another order placed for one in the next available build slot. Okay it would delay delivery for the few customers affected, but at least its not trying to pull the wool over their eyes.

I think it's just a big breakdown in communications somewhere. As my dealer said, I seem to know what's going on more at Seat than they did. And I only know what's going on from reading it on here!

I found the same when I got my car.

The dealer didn't know about the model year change until I asked him to check which colour grill it had when the car had actually arrived.

I was looking at an Ibizia Cupra at a different dealer a year or so earlier and they didn't know that a new colour had been introduced. I'd actually spotted it on the SEAT website the day before.

Shame really as it makes the buying process a nightmare.

I can appreciate that SEAT could have built the cars wrong but they should never be getting through to the customers. At least anthb's was spotted by the dealer, Rampage you actually took delivery of yours and noticed it yourself.

SEAT should be checking each and every car as it leaves the factory, there must be come quality control in place. Even if they 3 or 25 or whatever slipped through the net, the dealers should be aware and checking every Cupra that comes in, even if it isn't part of the PDI process.


i dont think any slipped through the net personally. rhd cupras without xenons have been built for the likes of cyprus and ireland since day 1. i think they may be diverting cancelled orders or showroom cars that were intended for such countries.
but, at the end of the day we'll never know the true facts.
just be certain to double check what you ordered is actually what you get.

ps. i was in the dealership today but didnt see the car, what are they doing with it anth?

Well as they rightly said they could've stuck it in the showroom and sold it for more than they're seling it to me but for whatever reason it's being sent back to Seat.

Was the same when I ordered mine and the whole confusion over the winter pack option, they said I could have it but I was adamant they could not so they rung and checked and guess who was right......yes me.

I do find with SEAT dealers this seems to happen quite a bit as others report it, do other VAG dealers have the same problems?

Just to be fair to the dealer as they have read this and expressed a concern to my wording and like I say it is only fair.

The fault would appear to fall entirely with Seat and not the dealer. The order was placed in good faith and to the best of the dealers knowledge should have arrived as spec.

I can't really knock the service I received after the cockup was discovered and they did try their best to reslove it and let me get the car without waiting 3 months again.

As you know the only option was to go the hard way and wait again.
