After I had mine re mapped it went crazy on fuel for the first 100 miles and I got about 420 to the full tank. Seems fine now though and I can get 550/600 since it was done

i use normal shell diesel and do alot of round town driving, but it just seems like my fuel gauge just drops rapidly but i have managed 400 miles on a tank before dunno what i can do to get more, additives etc

650miles is easily done if the conditions are right.

When I lived in portsmouth I was lucky to get 450miles to a tank due to the stop start nature of the driving. I now live further a field and do 60m round trip to work on some B roads and mainly A roads doing between 40 and 65mph on the cruise.

On the other hand, SWMBOs vRS doesn't do great MPG due to her doing a journey into worthing in stop start traffic. I can get roughly an extra 5mpg on a trip in the same car if I took it.

Use the instant mpg indicator to get the best you can unless you are having fun:bleh:

too many variables, ie weather, type of road, traffic conditions etc.

brim the tank, take it on a long drive (ie over 100 miles is good) then fill again, or check onboard computer (less a few cause its in-accurate)

My 110 doesnt have an on board computer??

Wider with lower profile will due to the fact you have more surface in contact with the road thus more friction.

I suspect it is more the fact you do town driving is why your MPG is low

I was thinking on my excessively long journey to work the other day (stupid traffic) that, similarly to a car having peak power/torque, would a car have a peak rev range for economy? or is it basically as low as the car will rev happily without stalling, basically?

Ive not filled the tank for a while but im sure the cars not doing to well on teh mpg's missus has just started a stop and start job so thats killing it!!

just change the fuel filter and will be checking/replacing the maf soon hopefully will make a few more mpg's

I just wish I bought a 130 with 6 gears and ALOT better economy whats the insurance group of a 130?

I have found the 110 is better in and around town as the smaller turbo gives it an edge as it spins up sooner. Also my 110 copes much better lower down the rev range than liz's 130. On the motor way mine is currently much more economical as well but mine has much more mileage on it. I have found a 10-15% increase in MPG as my mileage has gone from 50 to 80k

the general principle is to try and stay it peak torque levels for best economy, this for the tdis ranges from 1900, so like nath says 2100 will be good for him, from my experience keeping the revs been 2k and 3k is best whilst accelerating but once settled into a cruise you can put it into a higher gear and drop them down as low as 1600 and it still be ok if the road is flat, if approaching a hill then a down change to get the revs up a bit so its not labouring will provide better econmy.
