Yet when you look at the bulbs, the sides suddenly don't look so white.. :(

The side lights are Philips Blue Vision, the dipped are the cheap kit off fleabay sent over from hong kong. Nice cheap upgrade methinks :)

I put the power through a couple of relays so the high startup draw doesn't cause any issues, however as there's no drain on the light wiring it's displaying the "bulb out" warning light on the dash. Looking at the HID relay wiring diagram posted elsewhere on this forum, I can see I've wired it ever so slightly differently, with the power tripping the relay going back into the wiring circuit rather than on to a ground, so will have a play at some point and see if that solves it.

Otherwise I can always use VAG-COM to change it so it think it's running Xenons from factory and get rid of the warning light. It's not caused any problems with the lights/flickering or going out. :)

I'm about to ask a stupid question and I apologise!

Does changing the bulb affect the alignment? I had to go through the hassle of going back to the dealer to get mine aligned properly already and don't particularly want to go back again!

You shouldn't need to get them aligned.....................unless you knock something seriously out of place.

It's possible you have put the bulb in at a slight angle, have a look side on[from
outside the car ;) ] at the headlight and you will be able to tell if the bulb is sitting correctly.

The bulb should be central to the shield in front of it, not pointing up or down.
