Getting to the ecu

I need to check the connection between the throttle pedal sensors and the ecu as I'm getting intermittent 'implausible signal' errors logged for the sensors in the accelerator. This causes the EPC light to come on and the car to go into a limp mode.

It's under the plastic near the passenger wiper right? Any tips getting to it and also finding the right connection for the pedal sensors?

Also, I haven't had a good look at the pedals, are the sensors on the clutch pedal and are there any connections that could be lose that end?

I'm hoping to god there's no corrosion of anythign expensive at the ecu end.

To get at the ECU:
Remove wiper arms.
Remove the rubber sealing strip running accross the 'front' of the plastic valance panel.
Pull the top lip of the valance panel upwards from the bottom of the windscreen (ie in a direction at 90 degrees from the windscreen surface) working from the outer corners.

Explained another way,
A lip in the back of the plastic valance

clips in a metal groove at the base of the windscreen

ECU is central under the windscreen.

took mine off a while back (easy to do) but has anyone found that the little plastic trays fall off really easily? Also had problems with the valance panel lifting on the drivers side when i put it back on (its marked now cos the wiper catches it). Going to get a new panel but worried that its the little groove that the panel goes into (attached to the wiindscreen) that is not holding the panel correctly and will have to remove the screen to replace that (i think?). Just wondered if anyone has has this issue and if so how did you fix it?

I've had my valance off several times and have no issues with it sealing the windscreen perfectly. I guess you must have damaged your valance panel.

Yes, the gutter trays fall off easily weithout the valance properly in place.

Took mines of a few times, to feed the boost line through gomit and seal it. Is it normal to be agap between the screen and the valance panel? Pushed it but it still dosnt stick.

There shouldn't be a gap. When the valance is fitted properly, its top edge is clamped down tight across the screen.

Take it off and see if there's anything in the metal channel that's preventing the valance bead seating properly.

Its raining, getting abit worse (dam the weather!!) Tried pushing it down and it just pops up.

My main concern is would it be ok for abit? as its raining and cant do it as i have strip the wipers and pollen filter cover. Will it get into any thing such as the ecu?

That's not seated properly.

I'd get it under cover and fix it as it stops raining. Yes, always a risk of ECU damage there.

I haven't got a garage either. I have a £14 pergola. (It's a b*gger erecting it when it's windy!)

Just went out to do it, its a slight drizzle but i was under the bonnet. 1st attemp i couldnt do it, 2nd attemp go the screw driver out, then forced it down. Only herd 1 click on each side thats it, the the driver side when down, so im ok. Any more pressure i would have went through the windscreen.

What you think?

so you heard a clipping noise when you pushed it down!! I dont get that noise so does anyone know if there is a clip there somewhere that keeps it down and if it can be replaced?

No, there's no clip for the valance panel, the bead is a push fit into the channel all the way along.

Update: needs a new throttle pedal £120. I'm a bit dubious as I didn't see any sensors on the throttle pedal itself.

It has a switch/sensor at the top to work the drive-by-wire.
