was'nt there cracking on yours Ian?

Nope no issues whatsoever..........the issue on my car was at the time they didn't have the inconnel studs made up in time on the manifold to turbo connection.
The originals had stretched and created a blow at the joint which natuarally warped the face.

New one replaced no questions asked with new Inconnel and special gasket....no problems since.....the APR manifold has a lifetime warranty.

APR haven't even officially released stage 3 or 3+ for the 1.8T after all these years in RHD form, Ianb is the only car I've heard of running an APR BT kit in the UK, even then the manifold is not an APR part. I waited years for a true bolt on BT kit to become available in RHD form ... still waiting. Star Performance have pretty much dropped the ATP kits because they are far from a true bolt on kit. APR have never been very interested in the UK. In Scotland there are zero kits out there for the 1.8T and nobody around who could make custom parts to fit something like a true GT28RS turbo.

Not true Rob.....APR has officially given their backing to the manifold develped by Guy Harding specifically for the APR Stage 3+ KIT.
It was sepecifically tested for 2 yrs on their TT demo car prior to launch.
It was thru neogotiation with Jim, Guy and APR that the MD of APR gave approval for the manifold to be launched with their kit. The manifold although manufactured by Guy Harding in Australia is underwrittten with a lifetime warranty.

The kit uses every other component of the APR Stage 3 US kit.

I would speak to Jim or Dean at Awesome who are both using Stage 3 kits...one on the A4 demo car and Dean has one on his Anniversary.
They've also done a few others.

If you ever go to Awesome on one of their RR days I'd give it a blast in my car or Dean's........you'll love it....it's a proper kit.

Problem is there are no APR agents up here I'd trust with my car, Star don't deal with APR anymore. APR UK don't even list the stage 3 kit on their website.

Yeah I know Jim stopped dealing with APR some time ago.

Awesome are the main distributor for APR and the kit should be listed on their web site....in fact it is.

I had tio travel from the South West to Manchester for fitment they provided a car....excellent service and advice.

Give Awesome a bell...very helpful.......APR are visiting the UK early in the New Year....I expect I will go up their soon once mine's been refreshed....I may even go 1.9 when I change my internals as at 108k it's probably best to build for another 100k...belt and braces!! My old TSR mechanics who built my 2 litre valver 'CFJ' are doing the build..'properly'

ahh, thought you said it was blowing... on another thread. strange APR's need special studs.. mines happy as larry with stainless nuts n bolts

they reface yours or replace it completely.
"warranty" does'nt mean it wont fail, but it will be dealt with by repair or replacement as said many times previous

Belt and braces re the studs...something they found that happened on the TT in Australia.

Warranty well worth it IMO.....manifold wasn't reface'd but was replaced with a new item.

On track is where this manifested itself where as you know heat can bring out all sorts of issues.

Have you got those valves in stock Bill??

PM sent.

you have the choice of single groove collet or tripple groove collet when the time comes.
tripple groove is OE collets, single is race (and requires the keepers ~£15 extra)

Both Inconnel??

Are the race ones for big big power then....ie alot more than my application??

Are both as easy as one another to install??

What's best in your oppinion and for what reasons?

Inconel are only exhaust valves Ian. One piece stainless inlet, inconel exhaust.
single groove collets suited to high rpm, and offer sturdier clamping and a degree of movement without stressing the stem. (~not that there should be movement)
no difference in installing them, both have to be done correctly.

Should come south m8 Backdraft are doing a very nice line and there are two of us with the stage 1 kit on now (pics etc to come shortly). Going on RR on the 5 Jan and expect to hit the figures spot on. Very fast on the road and with REVO stage 3 it works brilliantly.

Ayup Jonah. What happened there then - I thought you'd got a m0rksport GTRS conversion?

I quit it - the ATP elim. doesn't really work on RHD and from what seems to be coming out of the US is that they don't produce anything like the quoted hp. In addition i've heard told that the elim turbo may not actually be a Garrett afterall...a sheep in wolf's clothing I guess!

...I like the smell of lawsuit in the morning...

Not true really, the GT2X is rated to 290bhp and mine made 287bhp, plenty other GT2X's have all made around 285bhp, so not far off. The FWD GTRS made 310bhp on Craig's Leon and all the Quattro GTRS's all make around the 330bhp mark. The turbos are fine, the biggest problem is the position of the FWD, it makes a big inlet very difficult. All the Elim turbos I've seen are all Garrett stamped so I don't know about that one?

The Backdraft kits look good but are for 210/225 engines only, but bolting them onto a 180 engine wouldn't take much work.

They are stamped but the internals may not be pukka...how true that turns out to be...

U R right that the Backdraft kit is for the bigger engine. I saved money because I had my own injectors, FPR and map. Those savings paid for modifying my Forge FMIC from twin to single pass and for a SS charge pipe to be fabbed up all sorted by Backdraft.

anyway back on topic was looking into BT kits for the new 2.0 TFSI motor a while back.

VF Engineering in the US have been running a GTI with GT2871R turbo/uprated rods/pistons/fuel injectors/fuel pump/clutch/flywheel producing 400+bhp.

Their test mule is now at 515bhp using a GT3071R. Standard geabox is coping apparently!

Regal Autosport is the UK agent and their demo GTI is currently running 340bhp with the GT2871R on standard internals.
