N75 Race valve

Ok so I got my N75 race valve yesterday.

1st thing is, is anyone running one of these? And if so did you fit it yourself? Any problems to look out for or an easy job?

2nd thing is I think these valves are illegal for road use. The sticker on the valve says for Off road use only? Anyone declared one of these with your insurance company?

Thoughts appreciated

Whats the benefits of this anyway? Bet its gonna cause limp mode on a lot of peoples car if its spikes more like a J valve.

Some before and after logs would be sweet.

Im going to keep the original N75 valve just in case. I wont be fitting it till the new year anyway but Ill get some logs when I do and see what people think.

Race valve = H type valve.

Some cars can get away with it, others can't (including mine). As Phil said, car will go into limp mode (boost threshold breached or something).
From my experience with it, peak boost is higher on H type, but F type holds better. Mine peaks at 24psi on the F type anyway (which the cars mapped on). Putting the H type on may see this go up to 26-27psi on initial spool up (bye bye turbo).

Only my opinion, but personally, I wouldn't bother with it.

Not definately an H valv as theres no proper proof. Of all the posts Iv looked at on the different forums hardly any have had problems with the ECS race valve its mostly the J that causes probs. Some before and after ogs would be good like phil said. No ide whats with the not for road use sticker! 1st Ive heard anything like that. Maybe phone TTS and se what they say.

BTW Dan the race valve stays the same way around as the original, dont fit it in reverse like you would a J valve.

This all came about a very long time ago (about 4-5 years ago) about what valve version the ECS one was, outcome was it was the H valve. If I had the time, I'd dig it up for you but as I'm at work I can't. Unless of course, things have changed since then.........

ECS are hardly going to admit to that are they? People would just go elsewhere then wouldn't they. They put the word 'race' in it and people go ooooh must get that.

Here's a quote taken from another tuning site.....

1.8t N75 valve (version H): Want extra PSI? Just with the installation of this valve you can increase the whole turbo boost range by up to 3 PSI. More pounds of boost will give you additional HP due to the characteristics of this valve. This is also known as N75 RACE valve!

Tell you what, if anyone can really be that bothered to test this, I'm willing to supply my H type valve to someone with a ECS valve and comparative logs can be done between the 2 of 'em.

The J valve is apparently the one to go for anyway. It supposedly peaks the same as the H type/ECS valve but holds better.

J valve all the way for me too. I think it was my second mod about 5 years ago and its still going strong! I tried various others at RR days but the J has always been best

Im running the valve dan, Fits in 5 minutes if that. If your not that confident about fitting it bring it along to the RR day and ill pop it on for you. I wouldnt say it made a huge differance to mine but you can feel it, boosting around 23psi now and seems to be holding it quite well. When comparing logs with the likes of phils you cant really see any differance in the logs. But it is somthing you can feel compared to the standard valve.

Never seen limp mode either.

sorry to bring this thread back up but i fitted one of those ecs n75 valves 2 days ago and its been fine until this morning now its only boosting to 5psi which im assuming limp mode, if i swap the back to the old n75 does anything need to be reset or cleared in vagcom of will it just come out of limp mode

I would have thought it should just go back to normal. But they fault will appear when you next log in.

Thats assuming it is the N75 at fault. Ive been running one for a fair few months now with no problems at all.

going to have alook on vagcom now see if i get any fault codes ill post the results in abit hopefully its not the n75 and its something simple made the car run alot smoother

Just done an auto scan and came up with no faults found and the only thing thats changed on the car is the n75 could that be faulty ?

Its possible, Dont mean to patronize you but it is fitted the right way? I had mine off at the weekend and put it back on the wrong way, id get full boost now and again usally from low up to full load and then it would go back to 5 psi. I found a pic on here of the right way round and swapped. and its been fine since.
