Brake Ballancing Weights AARRGGHHH!!!

Alright guys just had the car MOT'd and the wheels needed ballancing so they

put the required weights on the wheel but there is a problem, the alloy

weights are rubbing against the brake callipers which while i dont think this is

causing any damage creates a very annoying rubbing noise. Does anyone

know if these weights will eventually wear away or will i need to have them

moved?again!

If they wear away then your wheels won't be balanced properly, so you might as well get them moved if you can. You should be able to get them moved for free as they should have taken the calipers into account when placing them tbh.

All that will happen is the caliper will get scratched and the weights will more than likely fall off! Take it to your nearest tyre outlet and tell them you want both front "static balancing"

generally thinner stick on weights also available, (if) they had them to use.. alternatively, juts move them inboard out of the caliper contact area but in the same position radially.

even the OE seat sport wheels with brembo's would be so close to rub the numbers off the top off the thin weights when i ran them

IIRC they don't use lead anymore. But yeah they are still soft so should wear away. Can you not just go rob some low profile sticky back weights from your local tyre place and just re apply the same weight just a little further in to the wheel and away from the caliper. I'm sure that moving them just out of the way won't do much to harm the balance of your wheels.
