If so, where and what were your new figures and impressions of the car?

The point that Sparky's making is that with the DPF successfully removed, the 170, for all intents and purposes, is a PD140 engine!

I was thinking more of just a remap, not a whole engine conversion!

Remaps on the 170 are very difficult at the moment due to the DPF. Some people have removed the DPF and then remapped successfully others haven't had any luck at all!

If you look at the Revo site they do not have any maps for the 170.

Thanks for the info, had looked at Revo (having had it on my TT) and noticed there was nothing there for the 170 - hence my question.

Didn't realise it was due to the DPF, what the hell does that thing do anyway? ;)

it's a particulate filter, and it is supposed to reduce particulate emissions. From what I gather if you get a bit too enthusiastic on how much derv is injected they can block up sooner, causing problems.

There are maps available for these engines though that are able to provide a nice increase in power/torque without increasing the risk of causing DPF problems to go up too much, but I'd get advise from the tuner(s) you are considering :)

We have been mapping this engine for months now.

Around 45 170PD's have been tuned by us, (in the Octavias and Audi's too) with good results.

Expect 195 - 205bhp and an increase of approx +75NM of torque. The P-Torque map also removes the common flat spots at lower revs

BHP is lower than the engine is capable of, as increasing injection too much at higher revs will cause DPF issues. Torque is still good though with great pull!

During Xmas/January, we are offering the mapping at just £300 all in :funk:

Its good that you've found a way to map these engines without DPF issues, but aren't they producing near those figures in standard tune anyway?

Also worth pointing out that a mapped PD140 gets pretty near to those figures also.

I'd just like to say that i had a re-map from Will at P-Torque and although the bhp increase isn't huge, the torque increase is amazing and it's delivery is so so smooth, i could'nt recommend anyone nicer than Will, he offers great customer service and the re-map is great too (even though i did miss out on the xmas deal by one week [:@] lol)

My '170' pulled 186.6bhp, and 273lbft, I shall be waiting until someone is tuning regular 215-220's before I get the wallet out.

The point is still that as standard the 170's power delivery is very lumpy low down, after the remap it's a much more enjoyable driving experience!

All I can say is that we have tuned alot of these now, with 100% very happy customers.

Without upgrading the DPF no one will be reaching 215 - 220bhp without reliability issues.

I think Miltek may have developed a system, we are currently chatting to them about this.

Come on Will we all no 215 is achievable if the DIN correction hasn't been carried out automatically lol ;) !
