Renewed my car insurance today on the 1.4

£690 fully comp, all major mods declared, 2 years no-claims and 20.

I just wondered what people think of this.

Bearing in mind that i live in a high-risk postcode/area. Due to the t***s that pass there tests and say 'Yes i can now drive' and go racing about and end up crashing and writing cars off left, right and centre.

Cheers,

Craig.

I renewed mine last week on the 1.4. was £485 including legal and windscreen cover, but that was TPFT, and mines totally standard aswell, so yours does sound like a good price!
Mine is with Endsleigh, im 20 aswell with 2 years no claims. Who is yours with?

My insurance is with Adrian Flux. They had the cheapest price. Ive got all the legal cover and that as well. Even if my car was standard i couldnt get anything cheaper than £510, due to the high risk post code. Thats the thing thats added alittle more onto my policy.

Plus all my mods are covered like for like which is quite good aswell.

I think my post codes quite high aswell, due to the little scrotes that come and steal stereos (i still need a stereo if anyones got a cheap one for sale?)!! I went TPFT aswell though, as i the cars not worth insuring fully comp untill i get round to doing some work on it.

I wish i had some mods to insure...my standard 1.4 looks terrible compared to some of the mk2's i've seen on here!!

I didnt want to risk going TPFT because if i crashed i couldnt afford to pay for the repairs to myself. so thats why i went fully comp.

Bear in mind you dont need to do much to these cars to make them look good, nice set of wheels, lowered and a few little other things.

That was honestly the best quote i could get. Ive lost count of the number of places ive phoned trying to get a decent quote. All the others were more than that. Its the high risk postcode that puts more on it. A few of the insurance companies said that to me on the phone, my area is high risk.

it makes alot of different when you make a claim, my old man rose up by 300 quid for making a theft claim.

Yeah, i'd love a nice set of Borbet A's for her, then lower it and she would be looking good already, funds are low at the moment tho, being a poor students not easy when you want to modify a car

On my old 1.4 '95 Ibiza I paid 1250 at 17 just passed with Frizzell.

Got my renewal quote from them with:

18 years old (a year older)
2 years NCB (they gave me 2 instead of 1 because they're nice) which gave me a 62.5% discount

And wanted something like £1480!! Over 200 quid more despite having 2 years ncb and being a year older.. Certainly made me laugh :D

Didn't matter anyway as I now drive a 1.8 mk2 golf.. Which they wouldn't insure me on as I'm under 21 but I've gotten an insurance quote of £715 with Norwich Union Direct for it :)
