I've lost some tension in the seat belt (i.e. it won't retract properly). Tried a search but can't find anything on how to sort it - is it straight forward?

Might be your belt pre-tensioner. Basicly it holds the belt tight if your in an accident so stops you going forward.

Expensive to replace I think.

Have you been tugging at it? that would send it off. Might be a warranty job.

Oh dear. Not done anything unusual with it. The pre-tensioner still seems to work if I tug it, it just retracts slowly. Don't have a warranty - car was serviced and MOT'd last month but I guess this might have just gone.
Any idea how expensive is 'expensive'??:(

If all the belt retracts all the way its not your pre-tensioner thats gone off.

The pre-tensioner is like a small explosion that puts a grip on the belt. The pre-tensioner your talking about is the standard one.

Most new cars are fitted with them for better safety 'eurocaps' (think thats what its called)
