Old thread resurection I know but it seems like the right place to put it.
I have the same symptoms. Light throttle between 1400-1700 rpm the engine will begin to shudder. It seems to be getting worse. No sign of it on closed throttle pedal or while the engine is pulling.
There are a few mods on my car and I seriously hope it's nothing I have caused.
It has a single mass flywheel so it can't be dmf related.
I replaced the Maf less than a year ago with a brand new Bosch one.
The EGR valve is still present and connected though there is a blanking plate at the bottom of the egr pipe.
I have an FMIC installed.
I have 2 ecus, one of which is mapped. The symptoms started while I was using the mapped one so I swapped back to the cars original one to see if the
problem dissapeared, it hasn't.
Inside the egr valve has been inspected and it isn't choked up with carbon/oil deposits.
My thought process led me to suppose that the car might be trying to recirculate a lot of exhaust gasses at that throttle opening and because mine can't do so it might cause a choking effect, in turn the shudder, but it isn't there on overrun1 Hmmm
Sssstew will the disconnection of the vac pipe from the top of the egr valve dissable it's intervention and remove it as a possible cause?
