Safe to drill?

I want to mount an in-car heater on the side of the tunnel below the centre console. The screws would be about where the black-and-yellow is. Are the any cables behind the plastic? How deep before hitting metal? Anything else that might be worth considering?

I'll post a pic of my car tomorrow.

what's wrong with the cars heater? mine warms up within minutes......but then it's petrol

I went to Finland for a few months on a student exchange program and it was -17 at one point, which wasn't as cold as it sounds strangely

Although I live in the south of Sweden by the coast it's quite often the car looks like m0rk's Cordoba during the winter. A heater would let me drive away directly without having to get rid of the ice on the windows. And a warm car is nice

When it's -17 C the air is dry and it's usually not windy, hence the relative lack of feeling cold. A few above zero with lots of moist is much worse. Did you get the freezing-in-the-nose sensation? Quite odd first couple of times... Needs to be about -10 C.

I'd like the bracket to be as in the pic. Screws would penetrate about 9 mm from the outside of tunnel.

Here's the heater in place.



Really neat. Termini with 1350 Watts from DEFA. Only about 80 € and much smaller than any other heater. The cable runs out through the back door. Very pleased. Last night the out door temp was -2C but in the car probably +25C.
