Car wet itself

went out to my car yesterday afternoon and notice a large wet patch under the car, close to the drivers side front wheel.

Only explanation I can think of is that i'd had the heating on high for about an hour on my way home, then parked up, is this something that Leons do? or should I be taking a closer look?

It isn't anything to do with that air con is it? I know they drip water but I guess it can't be if it was a big ish amount?

Sounds a bit much for it to be the air con. I may be wrong though.

I might be completely wrong in this but was it raining at all when you last drove the car? I know that when I wash the car or when its been raining, the water that gathers in the door sills drains when you open the doors. The water runs along the bottom sill of the drivers door and ends up near the front wheel.

I *thought* that the car leaked like that when the air-con was cooling for a while and the compressor got covered in condensation like a cold pint on a warm day? Not when the heater was running... there is a mention of it in the manual but I *think* im right in saying that it drips when its cooling... thats certainly what happens to the airconditioners in my work.

Air-con cars certainly do ditch a bit of water if the aircon has been on and you park up. I should know I found out to my utter embarassment when I took my last car (Honda Accord) back after a service. I noticed it constantly dripping and took it back to the garage ready to berate them for damaging something during service.....only to be told that they had given the air-con a good going over as well as it wasn't working too well (hence the reason I had never noticed it before) and that is what the air-con does, it dumps condensation. I don't know exactly the size of the puddle as it was dripping onto granite chips on the drive but it did seem to drip for a while so I imagine there is a fair amount of water. Jeez what a difference the air-con was after that service....positively baltic.

I've decided this freak of a puddle was nothing more than water running off the body of the car. I've tried it with a large bottle of water on the windscreen and it seems the most likey explanation.

It confused me because it wasn't raining and it only pooled on one side.



Oh and I've driven around with the heater set to HI and not suffered any embarresing sweating...
