Alarm?

I know this might seem a silly question, but I might as well ask it and get a silly answer back.

I've absolutely no idea if my Leon came with an alarm. None of the documentation (as far as I can tell) says anything about it - and i'm sure i'm missing the blindingly obvious - are these standard to the 1.6S range? Optional extras?

I know they've got immobilisers in them, and the alarm's never gone off - leading me to believe i'm lacking one, but I read a couple of times in here that occasionally the alarm (or sensors?) are set to "off" by default?

Ahh, any help you can provide would be nice - insurers are rather generously offering to knock 30 quid off a quote if I do - but obviously not gonna splash out if I don't

do you have little sensors on the inside of the B pillar, pointing at the rear and front, if so then you've got an alarm...

These interior volumetric sensors do seem to be set default to off for some odd reason by the factory, which i fit just rediculous tbh, to fit an alarm then leave it switched off so when the glass get's broken the alarm won't react... just crazy,

mine where, which I changed in vag-com, takes all off 2 minutes...

I'll have to look - so probably not! Cheers for that, i've never had an alarm system in my car before so didn't really know what to look for.

Just doesn't sound financially viable to get one fitted either, I can imagine it'll only start going off randomly anyway...

Aftermarket fit alarms are ok these day's i had a laserline fitted to my last car which cost £349, in 2005.

Theres no reason why they should keep going off unless they've been fitted incorrectly, or there's a fault, with alarm or car and it's detecting a voltage drop somewhere.

never had any probs with the laserline, and i've not had any problems with the lc one going off since enableing the interior sensors a few weeks ago...

in fact it only went off, when i directed a pressure washer against the screen a bit to long..

I don't suppose you know of any ways of testing the alarm, i've read a few posts on here about how to set it off, but none of them seem to work.

That price really says it all for me - for a £30 saving on my yearly insurance - and the only stuff being kept in my car being equipment from work which is insured, it'd be cheaper for me just to put a thatcham sticker on my window

unlock the drivers door with the KEY
open the drivers door
wait about 15 seconds

it will go off

if it doesnt after 15 seconds then you havent got a fitted alarm from seat

What i did was sit in car set the alarm with the remote wait 2 minutes then wave yer hand about in front of the interior sensor's if the alarm doesn't go off, then the sensors are not enabled, which you can do in vag-com in about 2 minutes.


the other way i treid was do the same as above but don't enable the deadlocking, then open the door if alarm goes off , then it's ok,
