Hi all

I have found some useful information on this but not managed to find an exact answer.

Basically when I indicate left my indicator flashes double quick and I got out of the car to check whether they work and the side indicator works but the front does not. I have checked for lose bulb connection but this does not work.

I have read this could be the relay switch. Does anyone have any ideas or had the same problem and does anyone know whether this can be fixed under warranty?

cheers :)

Cheers - i'll check the contacts and the bulb. I did not realise the indicators would go double quick just because the bulb is out. I suppose that is good otherwise you probably would not know.

Its common on all cars -its a feature i suppose, if it clicks faster one or more of the hazard bulbs is out

Same on all cars, when one indicator bulb goes they will flash quicker.

Less resistance in the circuit you see.

What?

Blown bulb. This is about as common as common knowledge can get.

Unless I'm missing something seat specific here...

If a bulb has gone there is no circuit surely?

i think you need to learn some gcse physics ;)

components in a circuit can be placed in parallel or in series....the circuit will only be broken if the bulbs are placed in series.

to be honest i doubt all the bulbs on each side are in one complete circuit?

im an electronics technition in the army , and work with relays etc on a daily basis. to be honest id put my money on the bulb or bulb holder....relays dont go as often as bulbs , and from my experience, generally, if a relay goes then it open circuits the whole system, meaning nothing works , or occasionally the switch inside arcs itself closed so the system stays on . however im sure leons are slightly different to challenger twos and as90 . . hope you get it sorted anyway mate

had same prob with front drivers side... its not the bulb for me its the contacts on bulb holder... cause the bulb works when you jig it about in holder..

do what craiglcr said ...bend the contacts up a little... works with mine...

Cheers for the help. I had a good go at it and it looks like its not the relay - a couple of times I have had the indicator working, but then next time I try and use it it plays up again. Over the weekend I'll have it all out, check all the connections and bulb holder and give a good clean and bend then hopefully all will be sorted. :D

Clean the contacts with a pencil eraser (the little ones on the end of pencils are the best) too - about the best thing for cleaning small contacts etc in tight spaces

You're doing all that as opposed to trying swapping a bulb out?

Yeah - its not the bulb because it works now and again. I have still not had chance to fix it cause it gets so dark so damn early these days, probably will have to wait until this weekend.

So if you see a grey LCR in Surrey and the :censored: of a driver does not appear to be indicating left, there may be a good reason for it!! Being lazy and not fixing it asap!!

Nip out to the car at work in the day, doesn't take 5 minutes to remove the plastic covers and remove the battery cover if you can't reach in. Couple of seconds to clean/bend the contacts and put back to test. :)
