DUMP VALVE with whoosh, but without loosing power?

Hey people,

I really want an atmospheric dump valve (with the whoosh on gear change) but I really really dont wanna loose any power which I have heard from many that it does cause wastage. I have recently been told by someone that I can get a SPLITTER valve and this recirculates the pressure back in (I'm geussing only half the pressure tho, hence the name).

Is this correct or is there a better valve out there for what I'm looking to acheive?

Also, whats the best boost gauge to hook up to the turbo? and where have people installed it (e.g. on the window pillar?)

Please help, I would really appreciate it.

With regards to the dv...what about for those of us who want a nice loud wooossshhh and aren't as fussed about the loss of performance (apparently it won't be anything i'd notice lol)? Also i've heard that forge one above isn't very loud?

the forge splitter is fairly quiet (but certainly noticeable) when fitted to a completely standard car but with an induction kit and a remap it will be pretty loud...mine is in full recirc mode and with my induction kit fitted the whoosh is about as loud as stock and dv in semi recirc mode.

i thought induction kits were bad as although they allow more air in...they allow a lot of HOT air in. i was under the impression that a performance panel filter would be the best way forward?

Is there any type of DV which will give an LCR a nice loud woooosssh without any problems??

personally dont see the point of improving performance half-heartedly.
i would either go all out to improve the performance or just not bother, going for something that will improve it a bit when it could improve it a lot more is a bit pointless. just cus it makes the car sound better... strange.
but then its your car not mine, knock yourself out!!

lol...well tbh i'm not looking at doing this for performance, i don't know why, but really want this wooossshhhh sound at the mo lol...it's probably something that is a phase and once i have it i'd either get bored or annoyed of it and convert it back to a recirc one lol. But still i'd like to give it a go and see what it's like.

Different cars and different issues here I think, induction kits on an LCR are fine with a nice cold air feed to the front bumper. However, although they sound good they rarely have better airflow than a decent panel filter etc.

Induction kits do sound good though

If you want volume of sound then a big cone filter, heatshield and cold air feed + splt-R would be loud

That's what Cold Air Induction Kits are for... I've got a Green Dynatwist and a Forge recirc DV - it's subtle but you can hear the whoosh from outside and inside the car... i could hear mine from inside a building when a Mechanic was driving my car onto the ramps outide, any louder and i think it would be annoying.

i have to say, i had the splitter in semi recirc for about two weeks only, decided it was too chav and put it into full recirc....now the induction kit is on the noise is back

induction kits are a whole other ball park and it really depends what you want.

Let me get all this straight...for what I'm looking for it is best to get this forge splitter DV, set it to semi-recirculating, but to get a nice (not too loud) whoosh/tsscchhh noise I would need a few more mods (e.g. this DYNATWIST induction kit, hwere's the best place to get this, or the nearest acheivement with just a straight air filter panel replacement?

As I am fairly new to the engine mod game can someone please let me know what 'remapping' is?

I have been quoted by forge themselves to fit the splitter dump valve for £110 cash, is this good, because I have seen the same valve for sale (no installation) for around £145. Can I trust them to do a good job?

If you want wooooosh-y noise, get a BMC induction and a forge 007p or split r valve.

But can I ask why you'd want that noise?!

A Remap is when a tuning company hooks up your car to a computer and downloads a program to your cars ecu to do various things (mainly increase the power output).A very worthwhile mod if you want to see big gains quickly.Do a search for Remap and you'll find millions of stuff about it.

If Forge want £110 for the valve and fitting thats a good price.Although you may be able to get one cheaper on e-bay and fit it yourself,it aint difficult.(again do search and you'll find fitting guides)

An induction kit will also give more noise (Induction, turbo spooling up and dump valve) and will work with or without the Split-R

Chipping but without the physical chip (just new code uploaded to the existing chip in your cars ECU )

If it's £110 for fitting only Get it fitted by some local Garage, if that price includes the valve and fitting bite their hand off

Forge will do an excellent job fitting it cos the guys fitting it are Forge's R&D team.......they don;t do much 'fitting' as they are not a garage they are a product manufacturer with an active R&D dept

Yes - you can trust forge to do the job properly - it's their piece of kit - nobody knows more about it

Remapping is altering the ECU settings to make the car produce more power - generally timing, turbo boost and fueling are altered to achieve this. Trusted mappers are custom code, revo, bell auto services etc etc etc - you'll be looking at £300-£500

The splitter is your only safe option for producing the 'whoosh' without risking throwing up engine fault lights etc
