Just an update for thosde who asked.

Had the Dealer strip the breaks today and they could not find any faults with the disks or pads, so they stripped and refitted the front breaks, taking the lips off the disks, copper greasing the caliper sliders, back of pads etc.

After a bit of haggle with the service guy he only charged it @ 0.5 (they had the car for 1 and half hours on the ramp) so cost me £36 inc VAT which was better than expected :)

On the squeaking front there is still a squeak under light breaking but 80% better overalll, after a bit of use the squeaking has died down so will see how it goes over the next week or so.

Not a warranty issue as no fault found with the pads or disks, just shite quallity I guess.

Telling you mate it the pads, very hard compound so when under light braking is just smooths the surface hence you get squeaking. Do the brake upgrade, get decent pads and the problem does go.

I mean I get very light sqeaking every now and again so its common.

Can I just try upgrading the Pads (can't afford the full upgrade until after Florida this September) will the Ferodo DS2500s just swap with the OEM pads?

If so I have found the Ferodo DS2500s but only in a set of 4 for around £110 is this right?

No, those aren't the right ones. They are for the LCR and not the LC/FR. That price is also for a pair, not a set of 4. The set you want is here: http://www.jabbasport.com/product_fulldetail.asp?ProductID=79 :)

Have a word with Bill @ Badger 5 (stick a post up in his forum section or do a search there) as he sells Ferodo along with a few other brands of brake equipment so will be able to advise you on what's best :)

I will, they are doing it this Friday at 13:30 so need to give it at least a week to see if they have indeed sorted it (who knows maybee they will find an issue that will be covered under warranty) if not then the credit card is gonna have a bashing doing as jonjay said

312mm Audi S3/TT discs
312mm Caliper carriers - Golf mk4 or Audi TT
Ferodo DS2500s pads

So that will be £350 plus paying someone to fit them, so may as well round that upto £1000 and get her Revo'd at the same time LOL :runaway:

I've decided I'm going to go down this route as I need new front brakes for my Leon. I have the original Cupra 17" wheels not the later FR ones, will this kit be suitable? I hope so cos I've already taken the plunge and ordered it:shrug: , about £300 all in plus fitting, not too painful!

I have a set of brand new DS2500 for the pad upgrade for £100 collection or £115 delivered. Un-used as i was going to replace my set i had on mine at the moment, but i decided to upgrade to Porsche 6 pots in ready-ness for the injector and turbo work at the end of the year!

So Ash, Silverfox etc need a set of DS2500 still?

OK update, eneded up going down the cheep route, had JP Board in Bridgend change the front pads from the OEM ones to Mintex ones, no squeaking at all so far (bearing in mind the origional ones squeked straight away after being rebuilt by Seat) so changing the front pads seem's to have worked for now.

On the JP Board front they were ace, car in at 9.30 said it would be ready by 1pm so after some Golf and lunch I went back and it was done, old pads in the boot (in a bag) chap was well helpfull he said the standard pads were fine, loads of life left (as they should have @ 12500miles) he said that if the squeaking returns to come back and they would look at the back :)

Super clean and proffessional workshop and easy to find, I know where I will be going for my next service, he also said that as they use all Seat parts this will not affect warranty either.

Told you :)

Now the problem I have is my back ones are squeaking and not the fronts which is really annoying me but got no money to change them as my new tyres rinsed me.

I get exactly the same annoying squeaking on my FR Tdi, same with the dealers telling me they want to charge me £50 to even look at them! Had it since new and the noise started after a month.

Fairly discusted that Seat will not look at a new car making this noise under warranty....now I just ignore the noise.....I will wait till they need replacing.

i'll second silverfox question, as i'm sure mine will need doing in next 6months, so gives time to save, (whatever that means!!).

Me too, pads and discs need chaning, so im thinking of the 312mm upgrade. Just need to be sure that by hanging my calipers on new tt/golf4 carriers i will be able to fit my front wheels on!!!! I have the fr wheels. Anyone know where to get carriers cheap????

Jonjay has a 312mm upgrade on the standard FR wheels.

Caliper carriers about 100 notes from Vag Parts is probably your best bet. Or maybe keep an eye on The 'bay or for sale section on here.

My car is really annoying me squeaking wise.

Even if I am turning a corner (or going straight on with a slight turn to the right of the wheel), the ******* front of the car starts squeaking as if something is rubbing.

JBS & Skoda can't see anything wrong, and it always goes away after rubbing copper grease over it.......but returns sharpish with avengence.

Same applied when braking as well, big loud squeak.

Been happening now for 6 months & I'm sick of it.

Are these the same symptoms as yours mate ?
