Hello

I'm researching a new company car and have it down to a Skoda Octavia vRS TDi and Seat Leon FR TDi. I currently drive a two year old Skoda Octavia Elegance and don't really fancy another couple of years sat behind the same dash although admittedly the rest of the car will be vastly different.

So i'm quite swayed towards the FR, the above fact combined with the fact that I have requested three quotes on each car from various sources and have had a two quotes for the Seat out of the six :rolleyes:

Visited Alexander Bridge Cars in Sunderland and had a look at the FR in Candy white they have in the showroom, GF wasn't overly impressed but I really love the look of it, dash isn't as pleasent but the rest of the interior is quite sporty.

Test drove a Reference Sport I think and found the ride to be quite firm, is this what I can expect from an FR or is it even harder with the 18's on? My boss has a 140 TDi Audi S-Line with 18's on and although it feels made for 80+ on the motorway it can sometimes feel very skittish when the surface is poor. I do 25k miles per year and don't want to have to see a chiropracter every 3 months!

I've got a quote on FR TDi, Candy White, WP, CP, Bluetooth and dealer fit reversing sensors. Leased on 3 years 25k a year for £301 anyone else lease a similar car? Is the cost about right?

I notice the servicing is every 10k compared to my Octavia which is about 20k! Salesman reckons that a service is about half what i'd pay at a Skoda dealer so it should even out, i'm not so sure. How much has anyone else paid for a 10k, 20k service.

Cheers!

I have done a few little mods to the interior which make a world of difference.
Ok you shouldn't have to do these they should be standard but for a few hundred you can really brighten it up and I think it looks way better in the outside than the skodas. They are still few and far between and trust me people look at the FR's ;)

Oh and as for the service not had one yet but they are around £180 if memory serves me right. I got a deal of three free services, so for now not paid allot of attention just enjoying the drive :funk:

The only thing that irritates me is the grey panel arounbd the navigation and climate controls.Seat shoul have done something better.I am sure though they'll think of smoething at a later time

You can get a trim to go around the climate controls if you look on Seat.com. Again really should have been standard but for the money compared to a golf or audi I don't mind spending a little for the extras.

Thank you very much for the replies and pictures, I posted last night and kept refreshing the page whilst I was playing Forza 2 waiting for a reply!

I'm sure the dash is something I can get used to, what might take a while to get used to is the 105 to 170 bhp power hike!

The Sat Nav lifts the dash a lot, Budget won't stretch to a factory fit nav. Has anyone done a retrofit to a Leon like a few of the members on Briskoda have in their Octavias?

I'm sure someone has listed a thread on here that just brought the surround and fitted his own sat nav system plus some speaker upgrades. I'm sure you could get better sat nav than the factory fit anyway and tv though factory fit does have a visual in so you could ad tv.
Don't think it will take you that long to get used to the power, it's to much fun and you soon want to push that little bit more ;) Just watch the understeer as with most diesels due the lump in the front
It's a nice car I'm very happy after three months of ownership but check my other thread as I did have teething problems. Seat UK were great though and I got £200 out of them which paid for the side skirts I had fitted today and they look nice, photos tomorrow :D
The little extras for the dash just brighten it and bring it out. They are things you can do over time but if this is a company car I don't know how you would stand or if you'd want to as you want see that money back. It can be lived with anyway bit should have been better, however you look at the overall price for what you get get, most being VAG quality parts and an amazing VW engine with no black smoke pumping out the back due the DPF filter then you can live it :)
I'm biased though as I have one and love her  Like the advert says 'Who is in charge in this relationship' or words to that effect
Glad if I've helped, Martin

You've been very informative thank you.

**Whispers**

Do you have to have a certain post count before more established members talk to you or is this forum just quieter than the ones i'm used to?

:D

Thanks for that.

I've managed to get two quotes so far, requested more but it's not up to me to chase dealers, if they want the business they should be chasing me!

£300pcm is from Alexandra Bridge Cars in Sunderland and had a quote for £340 from HSBC

I think in the vRS, owners have had their TDi 170s' re-mapped to nearly 200bhp. If you can afford the extra insurance, petrol and initial cost the Cupra is probably the better bet.

I'm probably going for the FR TDi as it's a company vehicle so diesel only.
