hi guys had my remapped lc on the rollers last week it pulled 275lbs/ft of torque but the bhp was 210 bhp which i thought a bit odd i would have expected a higher bhp figure its going back on in a few days as the owner was confused to i did seem to be suffering from the turbo off and on problem so i replaced the green spring with the yellow and they seems to have helped does anyone now anything else about the situation or does it seem right.

A stage 1 LC with no additional mods achieving 210BHP is very reasonable.

Do you have any further mods? Or is this a full Stage 2 remap? If so.. then yeh, very odd... boost leak? Under-boosting turbo?

i get that also, its just like that i think, depends how you press the pedal, the harder you press the turbo stays boosted for longer as with light press, theres a few delays.

Who done your rr?

I've always understood there's a slight knack to driving a turbo properly. i.e, you hold your acceleration when the turbo begins to spool, increase pressure slightly until you feel the boost and then apply quickly and heavily.

Flooring imemdiately just puts you through the rev range quicker and gives your turbo less time to spool and then boost.

Is this not the case? I certainly found it to be so in my XR2 Turbo and Escort RST.

Then 210 isn't a bad output. Most remaps average 200-210.. so you're at the higher end of the estimations. That could be due to the CAI and the Forge DV (which is straight-up better than the Bosch standard piece).

Unless someone can correct me, I think 210 is about right.

just from the torque figure he was happy but expected more bhp i did start to suffer from a bit of heat soak but i have done a few conversions and will quotes extra 70 nm after a remap but i was pulling 140nm if you convert lbs/ft into nm

To be honest all cars a different, some get lower than others, 210bhp is average.
Have you tried improvin your exhausts sytem , such as decat...

Was it specifically more BHP you were looking for as opposed to torque
I would have thought with a figure like that your car will pull like a train
I'd say thats a decent figure
A KO4 remap is likely to get that sort of torque figures also. BHP is perhaps a bit low but torque is the fun bit, BHP is just for top speed really....innit??

Well, torque is turning force. i.e. the force at which your wheels are being turned. Which is why diesel is utilised as a fuel for construction vehicles with heavy loads and the humble Transit van.

Torque has a great effect on acceleration; more so than horse-power. But horse-power is the ability to turn faster. Therfore controlling top-end speed.

A healthy compromise is best, in my opinion.

So yeh, your LBs/Ft output is gorgeous!

(And yes I know that was a very, very basic interpretation of that could otherwise be expressed as a series of complex formulae). :D

yeah it does pull really well but its always nice to see it on paper ain`t it just would have liked to see the bhp more towards 220 but i suppose 10 off ain`t that bad as for top speed i did give a z4 a run for his money during holidays i know i shouldn`t have but 140 down the m6 and it felt like it would have done the clock loads of peddle left before he backed off and pulled over

I think you have just filled RobM shoes dude
A fountain of knowledge you are

Once upon a time, myself and Rob "The Old Man" M used to race to answer questions and spew pointless facts all over new posts :p

Then I changed jobs (and girlfriends) and car-talk went out the window! But now I'm with a girl who drives an Evo 5. (I'm jealous... of her car and boobs).. and car-talk is once again acceptable dinner-time conversation. And that spurred my first for SCN again :D
