My LCR (standard) topped out at 153mph on the clock , bearing in mind just how accurate are speedos anyway?

The car wasn't his, he worked for a hire/lease firm IIRC. Apparently they were going to charge him for taking without consent but they dropped those charges.

TBH I was surprised that this was reported as the highest speed anyone has been caught at in the UK.

I'm pretty sure a few years ago someone was caught trying to do a 200MPH shoot on the M1 in a 1000BHP Skyline, but the police let him off coz he was Japanese

That was a Top Secret Supra, not a Skyline ... almost got to 200 mph as well, but something broke
