Single high-pitch beep just after switching off

I'd just returned from filling the tank, parked up on the driveway and switched off my 56 Ibiza. Before I'd removed the key, the dash emitted a single high-pitched "beep" lasting about a second. (This was a real beep, like a digital watch --- much higher than the usual synth "ding" you get if you leave the headlights on and open the door.) There were no warning lights on, the car is operating fine, and I'd not even opened the door. I switched the engine back on but no fault lights showed, and all the fluids are at the correct level (it was only serviced 3 weeks ago, and yes, the service counter was reset). Any ideas?

No, temperature is quite moderate down here. (About 15C? Certainly not freezing!) Again, this was not the lights on/low-fuel "ding", it was a plain old piezo-style "beep". (It may be the same as the "oil pressure" warning sound I once heard when I stalled it manoeuvring on gravel.)

The cold temp sensor will 'bing' at 4.0C, well in mine anyway, lights and fuel are a no, sure it wasn't an indicator down?

that temperature beep has caught me out quite a few times, you're driving along and it just hits you out of the blue, you just prey it isn't coupled with the engine management light ;)

Well I don't know why it beeped at me like that. I've just been out for a rather, er, enthusiastic drive and I saw no warning lights, 16-18C on the temperature monitor, all subsystems working fine, power delivery normal, and this time no beep on shutdown... it's a mystery.

I'm now trying to think if there was anything else I had in the car that beeps.

Heh, I get that shitty sounding 'bing' too.

Lights, Fuel and Indicator give off the same drone - different to the 'bing' :)
