Its prob just cause the friction and other forces acting on the car are far greater that the power the car has to overcome them,
more power providing there is enough gears will go faster!
Mine has seen a good bit more than 150(speedo indicated)Mph.

before I had my car chipped I tried a high speed run and it always seemed to fluctuate between 155/156 mph on climate control readout (obviously had to convert from kph to mph). This always lead me to believe that the limiter was set to 155mph as some other vag cars

I'm pretty sure they're not limited it just feels like you're reaching a brick wall when you get close to the top speed.

My Revo'd LC would do 145 to 151 depending on condition, but took ages once it got to 140.

My BT LCR gets to 155ish with no signs of tailing off, but is all maxed out at 165ish (or maybe I've just not found a long enough and straight enough piece of tarmac ;))

what re maps do you have, 151 n thats its lot lol,

Nah your not trying hard enough;)

151 speedo will be about 144 true.

True top speed is 150mph meaning you need to be hitting around 158ish to get the true top speed of 150.

As been said, many people have gone off the clock at 160mph. Highest ive seen is 156mph steady on GPS, speedo reading roundabout where you would think 170 would be indicated.

Ive heard of a 162mph GPS in Germany but cant see it myself due to rev limitations.

I was at around 6900rpm in 6th to get GPS of 156mph

Will do quite a bit more than 151 indicated though, with the right amount of power of course. If your car is standard you should be at least seeing standard 150mph GPS speeds:)

On test track obviously:)

Yes. Also, If you give the police a little notice, they will give you your exact average speed over a measured distance. ;)

A bit like that Porsche driver caught doing 172mph on the news last week

Unless you upgrade the gear set, that's about as much as you'll get out of the O2M gearbox... I think it's 168mph @ 7000RPM

There was a thread recently about max speed - actually there are several!!
