Spacers

Im after a set of spacers for the rear of my car to get the track width front and back roughly the same. Since ive had it lowered my car the back doesnt feel to good at times.

Ive searched the threads but need to get a few things cleared up.

Which would be the best spacers to get? 10mm or 15mm?

The reason im asking is that my car is lowered 40mm at the back. Im running 195/50/R15 wheels and i have to carry 1 person, sometimes 2 to work 1 or 2 days a week. So i cant remove my rear seats to reduce weight. I dont want the rear wheels catching the inside of the arches.

Also will it be a problem fitting onto rear hubs. As i only have a 1.4 i have rear hub brakes, not discs. Think i will need the rear spigot length, can anyone tell me what this is??

Im looking at the delta-mic's as they are relatively cheap and seem good quality. Maybe Mig can give me his opinion on them.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

10mm are normally the ones people buy for the back. Roelich has just bought some FK spacers for his, not sure how much he payed for them though........

Is your car pre or post facelift? The rear arches had a lip on the former and were rolled in the latter. So to avoid rubbing, with the tyre sizes and drop, I'd advise 10mm for a pre-facelift or 15mm for a facelift.

My car is pre-facelift, it is dropped 40mm, running 185/55 R15 on standard SEAT rims, and I get fouling with a small amount of weight in the back.

ive got 195/45/16's with 20mm each side delta mics but the ones that got modded and ive had to wind up the coilies ...which im not happy about. roelich said he had rolled the arches, wanna see how that turns out. with 1 or 2 ppl in the car its perfect (thats including me) and when there are 3 or 4 ppl then it starts to rub ....i once tried 5 people in the car ...but not for long one had to jump out lol.

delta mics are good, i dont see the point of paying crap loads just to widen ur car 2cm, they are good and they dont make the steering shake, it actually stopped some of my torque steer ...and i trust the car going round fast corners so much more, drifted around a few too and had full control.

My car is a 1998, so im guessing post facelift. Altho my model was a weird one. I have the 'Estillo' model and it was a limited run in 1998 only.

So if i put 10mm (or even 15mm) spacers on the rear will i get away with no rubbing of the wheels on the arches with one or two people in the back. I need to carry one person in the back when i take the car to work, sometimes its 2 but that isnt very often.

but didnt you have to get the delta mics ground out?

Yup they did. I've got a set of the 20mm hubcentric delta mics spacers and I can highly recommend them. They do need a little of the inside lip machined out but apart from that they are superb. They come with their own set of bolts, the spacers are zinc coated so they dont rust and I do not get any wheel wobble at 120+ leptons.

If you buy them from this guy, they will already be machined out because I told him what the problem was and so he started machining them

"Please note Some VW's & Seats have come out of the factory with longer hub spigots which has caused problems in getting hucentric spacers to fit - These are modified kits so they should now fit over the longer hub spigots."

Ive decided to get the 15mm delta mics. I wont get any rubbing even though my car is lowered 40mm as the wheels arent anywhere near the arches as they are only 15's.

Anyone know the spigot length on the rear hubs as i need it because i have drum brakes!

Did you get any rubbing with people sitting in the back??

I was looking at my car today and i doubt i will get any rubbing as my wheels are only 15's.

Going to order the delta mics this weekend i think, 15mm spacers. Only need to find out the spigot length now!

I dont know why you need to know the spigot length, because originally the Delta Mics spacers wouldn't fit an Ibiza with rear disc brakes AND also one with rear drum brakes. But like I've said the guy on Ebay now mills them out a little bit so they fit. Might be an idea to send him a little message once you do order them to remind him to mill them just in case he forgot.

IIRC the spigot length is about 15mm

I wanted to know the spigot length because on the listing for the 15mm delta mics it says they require the spigot length if being fitted to rear drum brakes.

I just needed a rough size. If they dont fit exactly its alright because i can just take them into work and mill/turn them to the correct size.

I will add the little message in when i order them just to remind him!
