recently my fuel economy has just plummeted :| lol ive got a 1 litre pre facelift mk2 ibiza and i was doing around 40-50 miles off a fiver but now its doing barely 10 and about 30miles to a tenner! a fiver used to get the needle to 1/4 of a tank and now it doesnt even get it off the redline :S i thought it may just be the gauge but this theory went out the window when i ran out of petrol in the middle of selly oak about an hour ago :O lol has anyone got any suggestions of what this could be? i think i saw a thread about catalysts going and messing the fuel economy up is this what it is and how much will it be to sort out?

You may need to check the fuel filter as it can get clogged with 'muck' from the bottom of the tank, especially if you let it run out of petrol.
As to the fuel consumption, have you changed your driving style recently? Can you smell fuel? As far as im aware, all ibizas had the same size tank so £5 wont (and if it does it will only stay there for afew miles) take the needle to 1/4,(well at least not on mine anyway).

I will second that about £5 taking the needle to quarter of a tank. I have 1.4 and £10 just gets me quarter of a tank at todays petrol prices.
