6x9's ???
I was thinking about wiring 2 new powerful....ish speakers into the standard speakers if it's not too much chew (onto the parcel shelf; the door type speakers not the box style)

I fitted a pair of 8" Kinetic (360w) speakers and a Alpine amp (220w) to my parcel shelf. (£200 in total) Sounds great, I can feel the vibes in the back of my seat :D:D:funk::funk:

The wiring has since been tidied up and the subs have been removed - need the boot space!

The parcel shelf is re-inforced with several strips of metal as I found out when I drilled / cut out.

Wot he said.

And the standard parcel shelf isn't designed to support that kinda weight - as soon as you crank it it will start vibrating.

In fact you're better off getting some really good components in the front and amping them - it's where the driver tends to sit. I don't really give a monkeys about the back seat passengers...

I've put some good front and rear speakers in and it sounds great.
Also got 6x9's but they are hidden :)

Depends how powerful your head unit is.

You'd probably be better using an amp for the 6x9's but if you've got a powerful headunit they may sound ok running off that.

Mine are running of mine until I can open the boot and sort a install out :)

bowt fings?

Anyway... I would think any modern HU would cope well enough as long as you stay away from the bottom of the range stuff. Plenty have 4x 50w or more these days.
6x9s will want a bit more amplification otherwise they will sound a bit weak.

Can't fault my Infinity 6x9s (in my other car) :) don't go for Sony XPLOD or JBL etc.. they're crap.

Myself, there is no way i'm cutting into my cupra to fit speakers which aren't going to be much better than the standard fit, the standard components are amazing, even the bass is pretty good although perhaps lacking a bit of you fancy yourself as a 'cruiser' :D

I got an alpine system, head unit 4x60. All four doors have new speakers, the sub in and thinking about 6x9's but it may mess up the phase proccesor timings, cus more than 4 speakers is a waste of time, so i've been told, what do you guys think, i just want the best sound and the loudest.

4x60 watt is max power - you're looking at an RMS that is far more likely to be around 15 watts per channel. If you want loud you need an amp. I can't understand replacing all the speakers and HU without doing an amp - you're not using that equipment to anything like it's potential.

And I would probably give the 6x9s a miss. They might add volume but they won't add SQ if that's your aim.

mite just put new head unit in and keep the spekaers as u say they are top notch for standard one's ! would putting 6*9s on the parcel shelf create more volume then ? can u get the silver side plates for the dash
