went out to check my oil level last night & somehow managed to snap the plastic top section of the dipstick tube - doh! it was getting dark so I couldn't really see if it comes apart/how it comes apart but managed to get one ordered for £1.73 + VAT. Just wondered if anyone's ever done it themselves & if it's a quick job to fix?

Did exactly the same.

Easy enough to change though. You just need to pull off the old section but be careful that no bits fall down through the hole.

Use some needle nose pliers to pull out the bit in the tube. When you're putting the new one on you have to give it a good whack to get the lip over the tube. Use the palm of your hand, you'll break it if you use a mallet.

Got mine from GSF, about £1.30 I think.

how many people have recently got this problem? lol

The last garage screwed mine up, but for 2 quid what's the point in fussing, I've got the new part in the glove box, that's my job tomorrow.

They are a pound from GSF. As Boi Ninja says, put it in some boiling water before you fit it to make it a bit more flexible otherwise you will just snap the new one when you fit it.

thanks everyone (sorry not been able to view replies for a bit). I got it from the dealer no probs, but a couple of days to arrive because it's a part to be ordered.
