Stone Chips And Scratches

Is there anything on the market thats good for cleaning up stonechips and scratched,my black LCR has a few scratches that could do with touching up.

Stone chips you can forget about unless you are prepared for a respray job. Light scratches that you cannot catch your fingernail on can be removed with something like Scratch X or a decent T-Cut and elbow grease.

If you know a good polisher with a porter cable (or equivalent) they could help get scratches out and paint correct.

tell me about it i got hundreds of stone chips, give maguires scratch remover stuff its quite good but cant remember exact name.
thats for the scratches not the stone chips, not think there is anything that can get rid of chips other than paint

Seriously tho - the only thing I can think of for paint chips is a paint pot and a nice fine artist's brush from Smiths. And a very steady hand. Or, in my case, a g/f who's really good at art.

Try G3 compound and a angle grinder with the modified buffer on the end of it. You can get it from any car body repair agents. Squirt some water and washing up liquid on the scratches then the G3 and start buffing. The angle grinder just works quicker than your elbow so the scratches should disappear. Once the scrathes are out use Mer car polish to go over the area because the paint will be soft and will need to be protected. I had a load of light scatches over mine and this worked a treet.

If you have done this and the paint is soft I would consider a large amount of wax/sealant be applied to your bodywork ASAP.
This sounds like you have buffed away the top coat/laquer. If you have this is a very very bad thing. This is the barrier to protect you paint from everything.
If you get a strong bird dropping on your car you are going to loose your paint on that section as the is no laquer to protect it and it will be down to the bare metal

I'm not confident enough in my 'skills' to recommend the angle grinder route - I'd leave that to a well-trained pro, or at least a really experienced amateur. Too much to risk.

Ive got a few on my bonnet. Aparantly they can be "polished" out so to speak but at £80.

Also discovered heat cracks on my bonnet
