Let's revive this again. Four things to comment on -

1. The rev counter has a red-line - right? So when it's back-lit in red how on earth are you supposed to know where the red-line is? Imagine hiring a diesel to someone who thinks it's a petrol engine, and it's dark!:(
2. The audio works with the key in the 'AUX' position, but the steering wheel controls only work with the ignition on.
3. Is the audio not lit when it's on? Only seems to be back-lit when the lights are on.
4. For those people with a whistling driver's wing mirror. Try sealing the gap between the cover and the mirror itself. Cured mine!:)

The noise should sort that out, plus the needle is still visible - do you need the red line to know the cars engine is reaching its limit?

So is the MFA and trip counter.

I heard of one American tourist who thought she was hiring an automatic, put it in first gear and never moved the gearstick, and couldn't work out why the engine blew up after a few miles. Knew nothing about engines whatsoever!

Yeah, the button by the bonnet release lever isn't though. I think you maybe press the lock button twice or something. Check the manual :)

Just found the little drawer under the light switches, sweet, I thought it was the fuse box!!
Other things you may not know:
There is an automatic phone ejector device under the radio. Everytime I pull away my phone ends up in the backseat!!
The Finger, The V sign & The ****** sign are all forms of showing repect from BMW drivers when they finally get out of your way!
Who reads manuals anyway?
getting my remap next weekend YAY!

The manual clearly says that pressing the indicator stalk will give you an automatic 3 flashes on the indicators. What it doesn't tell you is that if you press the stalk twice you get an extra flash. I tend to do this all the time, because 3 flashes are not quite enough when changing lanes.
