Help fitting MAF?

Hi

Having some troubles after engine management light came on. Trawled through the posts on here & I think I got it sussed, but just cant find one last bit of info. Changing the maf on a seat leon 1.8T 20V??????

If the history helps:
Engine Management light came on 6 months ago, found to be a faulty coolant sensor. Came on here, got the info, ordered the part & fitted myself.

Over last couple of months the engine sensor has been up & down like a yo-yo. Presumed wasn't a major prob, as engine light didnt come on. Didnt realise the erratic idling for first couple of minutes was linked to that.

However, the little yellow eye of the devil winked at me this morning & is now staying on.

Ran vag, got the following codes: 17608, 16795, 17705. Determined from the different posts I searched through that I need to change the maf & possibly the coolant sensor again. Kept the guide to changing the sensor from before, but I really cant find anything on changing a maf.

Is it easy? And quick? And a bit of a longshot, but does anyone have a guide to changing it with pictures (for someone that doesnt know too much about what goes on underneath, but will give it a bash)

Hi mate, this is an easy change really, the link is for removal and cleaning of the sensor. It might be worth a try although if you have a light on, its probably best to just get a new one.

If you get one from Ted Johnson with 10% discount on here, its about £64 for a recon one, once you have send the old one back to them. You will get a hole new housing and sensor. Not just the sensor itself.

Common fault this, mine has gone just lately.

Ted johnson is a dealer on here that offers 10% off to SCN member.

however id say go to a local dealer and get on on exchange. MAFs dont like being thrown around in the back of a delivery truck / postman.

besides, at around £75 for an exchange after postage you may only save a couple of £s. WIth a local one its easier to get back to if there is an issue.

If you do not exhange with old maff they will be double that price.

If they say whats the MAF? it the 'airflow sensor' which sits after the airfilter and before the diverter valve.
