Got a bit of a desperate problem - one of my rear seatbelt catches has broken..... my cars MOT is due within days, and obviously it'll fail.

My attempts at securing this part from any VW group dealership have all ended in failure, with all garages reporting that no dealership or warehouse in the UK has any of that item, and is on backorder expected October! I've also failed to find any at any breakers yards....... im totally and utterly knackered here.

What is even more irritating is that nobody EVER uses the rear seats... but even so, it is an MOT failure so i cant argue.

What i'm asking (well, begging) is for someone to be able to borrow me one of these buckles just for a day or two so that i can at least get it through its MOT whilst i wait the ordered part turning up. I realise this is a massive favour, but im up **** creek if i dont manage to get hold of one. Im also on holiday from next thursday which makes things even more desperate

Ill happily pay all postage costs and chuck some extra cash in the return envelope for anyones help.

The item in question is the belt buckle for behind the passenger seat... part of the double one - item no 1CO 857 488A.

I realise this is a pretty bizarre call for help, but id be over the moon if someone could help out, thanks.

I 'have ' a double buckle out of a mk2 ibiza.. doubt if it would be the exact same part, but if you want it, its yours if you cover the postage..

(can chuck a pic of it up if you want ?!?! )

whip the rear seats out - where there's no seat, there needs to be no working seat belt.

then fix once legal

Put it this way, mine passed with just the one Seat in and bugger all interior - caused a bit of confusion with the online part of the test but still got a cert

"All compulsory fitted seat belts, whether fitted at time of manufacture or fitted later by an owner, will be checked to ensure they are of the correct type, in full working order and securely fitted."

So with the seats removed, the belts will still be there, and reading into that, should be checked? Just dont want to book it in then find i get a pedantic tester and give him a reason to be arsey :(

remove the defective buckle, but like I say if they cant test it they cant fail it

You've nothing to lose in the mean time until the bit gets replaced.

or just put a childseat in the seat that has the faulty belt as a tester i know you cant touch the seat incase you disturb the child seat resulting in the attachment being altered or take out the seats and the belts its a loophole like having a car with no lights for daytime use only;)

no, really you can

just have to ask for a daylight MOT

however, if you then drive the car at night / poor conditions - you have no MOT
