How much to pay?

Hello all. I don't mean to hijack the thread but I have a related question and didn't think it was worthwhile starting a new one.

I plan to replace my 2.0TDI Sport (written off by a drunken female) with a 2.0 TDI FR. I will be paying cash and want it as fast as possible, which means buying one of the loose stock floating around and unassigned to any dealership.

The offer I have had so far is for the following spec:

Black Magic
18s
Sunroof
Bluetooth
Passenger airbag diconnect
Rear parking sensors
CD stacker

On top of the the dealer will throw in mats and mudflaps all for £17800 pre-registered with delivery miles only, or £18300 if my name appears on the ownership docs first.

Is it a good deal or should I continue to hunt around.

I have sent a email to Thedealnegotiator but haven't had a reply.

That is a right load of sh1t. The internet companies buy the cars through the dealers and it is the dealers who you deal with further down the line (like a broker). Buying one from someone else doesnt mean you can use the dealers services.
I bought the Alfa brand new from a similar internet company and the local dealer has been happy to do bits of warranty work on mine, and remember these are renowned for poor aftersals service!

Hey Red Fred. Where did you get this deal? My local dealer tells me that he is sweating blood to give me a deal that doesn't look too good up against yours or Michael B's.

I bought mine through Direct Seat, based in Sunderland. They were pretty good, efficient and friendly service. check their website site, but it is better to talk to them directly

Thanks for the link Red Fred. I gave them a call and was quoted a very similar price to the price I was quoted by The Deal Negotiator.

So far as I can see the only downsides to going via Seat Direct are that they are unable to fit a CD stacker, they only give 6 months road tax and they have a delivery charge of £125 to drive it to me or £250 to deliver on a lorry.

I think I'm going to go with The Deal Negotiator because I can pick it up from them with a 40 minutes drive, each way.

If you're interested, the price that I will probably accept is £17900, which will be for;

Brand new 2.0 tdi fr dpf
Black Magic
sunroof
bluetooth
18s
armrest
rear parking sensors
mats
mudflaps

I just cannot get anyone to go lower.

Just order TDI FR

Hi guys, I have just ordered me a leon TDI FR.

The deal I got was:

Met silver,
18's,
Conven pack,
blue tooth,
12months tax,
mats & flaps,
full tank of fuel

I paid 17,000. Which i dont think is too bad!!!!

The dealer could source one that had my spec but it also had a winter pack, they were looking for an extra £150, but I was'nt interested so it has been ordered from the factory.

Finance Options

I just agreed £16,200 for brand new Leon FR tdi, with 18", Mats, Chrome Trim, muddys and armrest - just went to local dealer and they matched my quote from deal-negotiator.

On the subject of finance, many have commented that personal loans are best, however consider also that with a HP agreement you get additional consumer rights over a personal loan, namely:-

1) the finance company cannot legally take the car off you without going to court after you pave paid one third of the loan.

2) After you have paid half of the finance off, and should you find yourself in financial difficulty or wish to change car, you can exercise your rights under halves and thirds (see small print on all HP agreements), meaning that you can cancel the agreement, owing no more money and the finance company can only arrange to take your car away. DESPITE WHAT SOME PEOPLE SAY, EXERCISING YOUR RIGHTS DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR CREDIT RATING, AS THIS IS BASED ON PAYMENTS MADE, WHICH SHOULD BE UPTO DATE. I know from experience and friends in the industry that this is 100% legit, also featured in Auto Express in the past week or so.

3) So given the above, if halfway through a finance term your car is worth less than you actually owe, then you can hand the car back and the finance company have to take the hit ( its their gamble under the terms of any HP agreement).

4) Car finance is negotiable. I have secured some finance for my FR which is only £5 per month more than the most competative internet loans available right now, but have peace of mind from the additional benefits above.

Yes - I do plan to keep the FR for the term of the finance, but who knows what tomorrow brings?

Phew...................................

MS
FR Tdi, 18"s, Chrome, Croneo Yellow, armrest, muddys, mats. (my company fitting BT free when I get the car)
