Hi all

I've had my 03 LC for 12 months now and have been slowly improving it with various mods.

One really annoying problem i have though is the internal door handles on the door cards creek when ever you grab hold of them. It's hard to explain the problem in writing but it is as if the two plastic mouldings that make up the handles has come apart and they grind together when you touch them. I hope that makes sense

I suppose what i would like to know is, does anyone else's do this? It's really annoying me because its the first point of contact with the car when a passenger sits in and closes the door and it makes the car feel poor quality and dare i say it French. :(

its a common issue with all door cards on all cars as once you have removed the cards once the plastic is strectched and therefore not as much of a snug fit as originally was.
Unfortunately this is unavoidable if you wish to remove them

Sounds like the previous owner must have had the door cards off then :(

Thing is though the rear ones do it too, but not as bad.

Would new door cards solve the problem in your opinion?

it might do as it should be a lot firmer plastic but im not sure if its plastic against plastic or if its the securing clips that mak the noises.
I might well be its something to do with how they are fitted in the factory as to why they dont squeek to start off with. It might well be worth while tring to apply a small amount of some sort of lubrication to joints to see if that eliminates the problem but its not something i have honestly tried to solve even though i have had the same problem

My LCR does this, my girlfriend, my brother, and one of my mates always creaks the passenger handle on purpose when i'm driving cos they know it winds me up  My brother was the first to notice it when he said 'these handles are well cheap quality, listen to them'... Ever since then it has annoyed me

It annoys me that Seat have decided to scrimp on the design of the handles, compared to a mk4 Golf they feel proper low rent. Shame because the rest of the Leon is quite well screwed together.

I've been half tempted to strip the door cards down and see if the two handle mouldings can be glued or plastic-welded together.

Sounds like another job for a rainy day.
