Juddering LC when lifting off

Hi All,

I'm after a bit of help.

On Saturday morning my 02 LC (56k on the clock) started juddering (almost like a misfire when coil packs have failed)when I lifted off the accelerator. It seemed to boost fine, but as soon as I lifted off the judder came back and got progressively worse. :(

It has a Bailey DV fitted, but other than that, it is standard.

I took it in to the Stealer as it was only round the corner and didn't have chance to get my VAG-COM on it, so I don't know the error codes. Its been with the Stealer since then and they have come back saying they need to eliminate the DV, so need to fit a standard - a 2-3 day wait for a use and return part. If it isn't the DV they supect the turbo is shot.

Does this sound like a turbo fault to anyone here?

Thanks for any suggestions.

doesnt seem to make sense to my feeble brain. if it happens when you lift off then realistically if the dv is functioning properly then boost pressure will be released and the turbo will just spool down. how can it cause judder when there is no boost?

I thought it was odd - but I've been preparing myself for the worst! The stealers are saying that there are 2 fault codes they've got, and one of which is leading them to this conclusion.

I have had a pressure drop fault on VAG-COM before, which I suspect is one, not sure what the other is. Should be finding out tomorrow.

Just out of interest how much is a standard DV and a standard turbo?

EDIT: Any other suggestions on what it could be if it isn't related to the DV or turbo? I also reckon it was boosting enough to suggest the turbo was spooling, but if it wasn't could you put it down to a knackered DV or turbo?

I know its just speculation at the moment.

Cheers guys.

i would GUESS a standard bosch dv would be £50 or less but you are looking at a fairly hefty bill for a new turbo unless its under warranty (which i doubt).

Managed to get the fault codes from the dealer.

17705 - Connection charger to throttle valve pressure dropped
17545 - Bank 1 mixture adaption system too rich

Bump for anyone with more info.

Thanks.

Just been searching this and other VW, Skoda forums for the the fault codes and it does seem to point to a DV. I'll be so happy if it is!

Think I'll go with a Forge next time!
