driving style is definately a factor and so is the fuel you put in, tesco stuff is the worst for driving and economy - dont know what crap they are putting in there but my cupra dont like it !

bp ultimate is by far the best option but you pay a heavy price for it, sainsbury for me is quite good so im happy there. always seem to get over 400 per tank regardless and my last fill up was £34 for 38 litres and 421 miles, works out about 50miles per gallon which is good for the working week... redex definately helps every now and then !

If your cars only done 1K it will still be very tight. Dervs don't usually hit their potential mpg until they've done over 50K, more like 60K. The more miles you do though, you should see the mpg improve. Most folks reckon they see the best improvement when they around 20K on the clock. :)

yeah i heard somethin along those lines. oh well its still loads better on the juice than my last car so im happy..........

My two pennith...

Had to do a few business miles recently and thought i'd see how far the car would go. (BP fuel)

Averaging 53 mpg ( car would probably average higher but i had to carry 2-3 passengers for half a tank) trip read 0 miles left @ 580 miles gone. Couldn't make it's mind up between 0 & 5 left until 605 miles gone! Pulled into an uphill parking spot on 650 miles gone. Came back to the car and it wouldn't start.......

Had put 5 litres of diesel in the boot in preperation which, once in the tank, meant it started after 10-15 revolutions.

Then drove 1 mile and put another 54 litres (without venting) in meaning 59 litres into a 55 litre tank.

Probably very pointless, but kept me amused and i don't think it harms the engine.....I hope......

I use a mix of esso and tesco, which ever is nearest when need to fill up. Never had issue with either, about the same mpg and miles per tank, so i'd say tesco isn't rubbish. May be where you live but not country wide as shown by the mess tesco had some while ago - Hit some parts of country not all.
I do agree that driving style has a lot to answer for and probably so does the lack of parents driving little brats to school now the summer holidays have started - less cars on road so no stop start.

Best I've had so far is 345 miles from my Arosa TDi to a tank but not been brave enough to really push it! Costs me £26 to fill up.

Just filled up, 53.7 ltrs/£51.50 (95.9p ltr) into a tank that is meant to only hold 55ltrs. :D

Only got 445 miles out of the previous tank. :(
