thats a nice experiment, i like it :)

lol@ 2 ft, that was blatantly just for amusing tv? ;)

but if you were travelling at lorry speed, you would be travelling i'd say about 25% longer time than if you were going at car speed?

also on a hot day you would need to re circulate the air (non econ?) otherwise you'd get a ton of lorry fumes into the air con?

don't want to upset anybody on my first CupraNet post but i've done 630 miles with still a 30 mile range showing on the computer , this was in the heavier but identical underneath Fabia VRS , but this was driving mostly on the motorway at a constant speed

this was with fuel i bought in France which is 5% Biodiesel , which i'm lead to believe is a lot better than just standard diesel

these are rediculous mile figures, it has made me change my mind to buying a 00- ibiza 1.9 tdi sport, then tuning it and modding it pretty much the same as i was planning on doing a cupra, having pretty much the same power more turque and being alot cheaper to run.

brilliant!

fabia is a lighter chassis/car isn't it?

i get about 460 true MPG, 410 according to the display, by dad has the fabia vrs and at 70-80mph he gets about 600+ to the tank.

With what can only be described as a heavy right foot, I usually see the right side of 400 miles to a tank... With all the torque, 55MPG+ can be had, but my right foot disability hinders such progress! ;o)

I've got an '06 Altea Sport TDi (140bhp), mixed driving style (sometimes with a heavy right-foot, sometimes a little easier), both motorway and town driving and I'm averaging around 45mpg, goes up to mid 50's mpg if I'm following traffic down country lanes.

Its a heavier car, not sure what the tank size is, usually around £50 to fill up, and get around 550 miles to a tank.

AFAIK Fabia VRS is heavier than the equivalent Ibiza FR

ditto for my driving, but in a Cupra TDi
55ltr tank i believe and i go from red line @ empty and fill to brim but not overflowing.

i have a 2.0 tdi reference sport and it is just bedding in now most i have had is 650 miles frm my tank

I've resisted so far, but once again I'll post in a fuel economy debate... :D

Just refilled mine, 552 miles with 40 left according to the trip comp. That also includes (cough) towing a caravan for some 60 miles... Not been gentle either as been trying to gauge the new Avon ZZ3 tyres I've had put on front and back... So that's ok by me. :D

As to French diesel, it is supposedly denser than uk diesel, especially if you opt for traditional derv as opposed to the low-sulphur "city" diesel that has to be sold in the uk. My Leon flies on it - can't wait til next Wednesday when I'll be filling up in Dunkerque. :D

I'd say 475 on a tank is pretty good, that's 47/48MPG!!

My 100PD Sport was getting 550/600 per tank at new, but now that's dropped to between 500 and 550 per tank as I'm getting more used to using the right foot at 17000 miles!!

Ok, I filled up when I was just under quarter of a tank in the Ibiza and vented it and got 48 litres in. The needle was on full for 200 miles for my holiday to Wales, short motorway then A road blasts up and down hills around Snowdon and got 680 miles to the tank. Averaged around 54mpg, was bloody impressed as was having a little bit of fun quite often. Car is on 34k, 05 plate

Oh dear... I thought I was doing well with 400 miles I tank. I don't really do the whole taking it easy thing... on a motorway my average speed is about 80, I'll climb past that to pass Trucks, Buses and put a big fancy car in its place.

I might try resetting my ECU anyways and see if I can get it to increase... perhaps I need to drive in a much less spirited manner.

to be honest the type of driving ive been doin should be seeing higher than that. mostly following traffic to work and back sat between 50-60 most the time.

I only picked my car up on saturday so i haven't filled it right up yet but i have just over a quarter of a tank left and the computer is saying i have 135 miles left before i need to fill up, which i'm delighted with tbh.
I have only been driving around town since sunday and i'm averaging about 40mpg and i have a heavy right foot.
