Sometimes I hate my car

Last week I noticed that my car was suffering from knackered slow fan syndrome. A couple of days ago I got into my car to find a quagmire in the passenger side footwell. I'm pretty sure my door seal has gone.

When these cars work, they are awesome. But when they go wrong it is gutting. I am a total spaz when it comes to fixing these kinds of things myself so I need to get it into a garage but I might just take it to a scrap yard!

I'm the same as you ajoellew, not too good with car mechanics so have to take it to a garage each time there is a problem. But then from my experience and other peoples' you are just very lucky if you have a car for years and absolutely nothing goes wrong with it.

We expect the car to be completely trouble free due to the price tag but in reality this is rarely the case with any car, not just with an LCR.

Still very annoying though when it happens! Get the probs fixed then you will see that smile come back.

yea the car is absolutly brilliant when it works, but ... my LCR will cost me about a grand in the next week or two. My clutch pedal decided to give up a few weeks ago, just before a service which in total to get fixed has cost me 500 quid.. plus my engine management light came on about 2 weeks ago, some sensor has gone and ive been quoted 360 to fix it.. plus tax is due... another 120ish :censored:

Its just non stop. everyone is telling me to sell her but i just cant :( I love the Cupra

I've had a few 'mares with my Leon too - I've owned it 4 weeks and it's been towed, broken in to, needed new tyres, needs a service and it's history seems to be suspect.

It's going to be a love-hate relationship I think....

Thanks for all the replies, made me feel a little better until some little toe rag kicked a hole in the mesh part in the middle of the front skirt over the weekend.[:@]

Still, my mate had his R32 nicked last night so compared to him things could be a lot worse. It does really make me wonder why we bother having nice cars when all some people seem interested in doing is damaging/stealing them.[:@][:@]

I know how you feel, 4 months after the car came out of manufacturers guarentee , my steering rack, steering pump, and the steering sensor had to be replaced twice. Its been in and out of the garage for 6 months now, going in again at 2pm at MK Seat today. Unbelievably i might need another new steering rack. Its unreal! And i dont have any income, its just drainig!

I got fed up, and have bought extended warranty with Warranty Direct. £200 for 13 months seems like a bargain!! And they are very very easy to deal with when you have to claim. Maybe some of you can try that? And dont forget to tell them i recommended you ;)

The website quoted me £220 for 12 months, but i done a deal on the phone for £200 for 13 months as long as i consider getting the same cover on another car in the family for £650. Good guys.

I have claimed, the new steering pump was done by them. It was in the first 90 days as well, where W&T are covered. Phoned em up, they said book it in the garage they recommend, which was a seat specialist, and I picked the car up later, and didnt even get charged excess or anything for some reason. And also they sent me a cheque for £610 for the job as well, I think theyve made a mistake, might cash it and play dumb. maybe. see what happens.

whats the company website web site? im think of apply to, but to they touch modified cars?

Im not too sure on this one mate, they didnt ask me what i have done to the car. It might be a case they will not cover modified parts. Have a word with them and see what they say.

thebeno: Excess is £25. Never found out why i wasnt charged for it.

Also if you change the car, you have an option of carrying the cover to your next car, and just pay the difference in cover price.

I shopped around everywhere for extended warranty, and by far these were the most comprehensive, and cheapest!

Search Warrantydirect.

i think its warrantydirect.com / .co.uk

Make sure you by over the phone, you can haggle with them. AS long as your car is under 60k they pay for everything, after that depending on your milage, they pay 90% of parts, etc. its on a sliding scale.

Check out their website for the different covers

Sounds great, may research them first, but if they paid out with you.

With modified, they will probably not pay out if its related, such as clutch etc.
