yes mate that is where your plan is foiled... from the MAF it goes straight down the tip to turbo, then back up over the engine down through the space below the offside headlamp, through the FMIC and back up to the intake manifold.
when they were designing it they must have realised it wasn't a great place to put things. it does seem like everything you want cold is at the back of the engine.
.
Question is, that flatened elbow pipe that sits in the drivers wheel arch looks fairly restrictive, is that something that can be replaced / rerouted? Does that fasten directly to the output from the turbo .... really can't see in there without removing the lower tray / putting the car up on ramps.
Having looked in the daylight, it looks like that flattened elbow connects to a metal pipe, am guessing that's the pipe that comes off the turbo so it's going to get pretty warm, would need a metal pipe to replace it with. Also looks like there's a fair bit of 'gunk' sat where that pipe connects to a rubber pipe which i'm guessing goes into the FMIC - if that's been leaking gunk is it fair to assume that it's been blocked in some way?
Looks like it's a bumper off job again, undo some clips and have a poke around to see what's there.
I'll email allards on monday and ask which bits their pipework kit replaces. Would be really handy if someone had a diagram of this!
