Wud a set of GTI rear windows, the ones that can open, be fitted onto a mk2 that doesnt have them??

Im guessing they will if you got all of the brackets etc needed to fit them

Considering doing it to my 1.4 8v.

Thanks in advance.

At a guess it is a real ball ache but must be easily acheivable. By the looks of things you would need front and rear brackets/hinges, the rubber, the glass and possibly the inner plastic from the B and C pillar.

You would then need someone to "unbond" your rear quarters. Could be done with someone pushing on the inside and a hot air gun I guess!

In all honesty, I think with a trusty haynes manual, a set of spanners and the right frame of mine it should only take an hour or less. I really can't see it being THAT involving, its just you need all the bits and to get the preparation right!

youll need to cut out the glass with a windscreen cutting removal tool or cheese wire

Thats all the parts youd need to do it with part numbers

and this is the old thread that was made about it a while ago

I think you have to weld the hinges to the pillars or something like that if my memory serves me right... tho it is a 2 year old thread :D

When the guy links to 'this' im guessing it means the top picture or near enough that i found on VagCat
