Which Wax?

well yet another slippery slope has started with my car, not content with making it go faster, now I have the addiction of how shiny it can be!:D

I know reading across alot of forums that P21's is favoured by alot of the enthusiasts/pro detailers

so I am looking at the following 3 waxes which I will be buying at the end of this month

P21's
Victoria Concours Wax
Chemical Guys - Pete's 53 Paste Wax

I think I already know the answer from what you detailing guys are gunna say, but just wanna see if I'm right:)

your recomendations and why if you could please:)

In order of my personal preference

CG's Pete's 53
Victoria Concours
P21s

Pete's 53 actually to me has the look and finish of Swissvax Saphir but £40+ cheaper, as for durability I'll let you know as its on my van at the moment.

Victoria, almost as good as Pete's 53

P21s, looks the best of the 3 but durability is sub 2 weeks, if its raining and you do a lot of miles even less, so for me this is last

Others to consider Dodo's new wax range, I tested the samples of the rainforest and whatever the yellow hard wax is called, both give great finishes and seem to be 4 weeks + durability. CG's XXX hardcore wax, another great cheap wax, good finish and durability.

See a recommendation without trying to big up Swissvax :p

Agree with Gary 100%, but I wouldn't have P21 on the list at all.

Chemical Guys 50/50 paste wax would be my prefered choice for that sort of budget (£25).

thanks guys, I am suprised at the answer, as I thought it was going to be the P21's as the preferred choice

I think I will give the Victoria concours wax a go, purely from its durability as I want it to last a while, and not have to be waxing the car every weekend

thanks for the help guys

I use Pete's 53 on the Cupra, very pleased with the results.

I was just about to ask what you lot recon of the Zymol Carbon wax. Admitedly it is a bit on the pricy side, but you can get it delived from USA for the total of £35 per pot link

But from what I've heard from some people, you dont actually use much of it per application and it work for quite a while, meaning that in the long run it isnt all THAT much more expansive then others.

I've used some crappy turtle wax in the past, and tried some spray on ones as well and they were all cack. Now I'm using a lot of the AG stuff and was just going to try and get a good proper wax. Just thought I'd ask you before I shell out my hard earned cash.

p.s. I do not own a PC, so has to be something that can be used by hand

Cheers

OK, I've spent all day reading up on detailing world and now I'm split between these two:

Victoria concours wax (6oz)
Zymol carbon (8oz)

Both will cost me about £35 delivered but just cant decide. Some people on DW seem to be contridicting themselves, first saying how rubbish the zymol is and how its a rip off, and then how good it is and and how you get what you pay for (to an extent).

If anyone can help then that would be great

Cheers

I've not used the others, but if I have all day to wash/wax my car then I'll use my Zymol Titanium. If I dont have all day then I'll use either A.G. Super Resin Polish or Zymol Cleaner Wax.

speaking with others Mig, there is an easy way and a hard way

P21's is great, and always highly regarded, and it waxes on and off very easily, you dont even have to wait for it to dry, and its dust free....but this would be every weekend you would be doing this

I would personally go for the Victoria Concours - its harder to apply and will take more effort but the effort you have put in will be longer lasting, as the Victora Concours wax is alot more durable, and I have heard from others the results are just as good as the P21's, but takes more time and attention

I know I have side tracked a bit, but as for the Zymol carbon I cant really comment

I'm just dragging up and old thread to see if the recommendations are still the same, particularly with the reference to the Dodo range?

This be going on a dark grey car, I want to be able to wax a panel at a time (I'll never find time to do the whole car in one go), I want it to cost £1.50 and to last for several months :D

Recommendation for a applicator and cloth combo would be much appreciated...

I'm heading for the Pete's 51 at the minute.
